2112 question.

How do ya'll interperet the finale of 2112 (Attention all planets f the solar federation...)

I could see several ways to do it.

The way I like to think of it is what the protagonist saw in his dream was real, and they came back

"To claim the home where they belong

Home to tear the Temples down...

Home to Change"

The upbeat sorta music seems to indicate something good.

Possibaly it was some federation thing to reinstate their control.

Or the most likely explanation is the boys just wanted an excuse to use the cool robotic voice. tongue.gif

Sorry if this has been already brought up.

sounds to me like the priests squashed the protagonist pretty good and that this was 'their song'

we have assumed control!

come to think of it; looking at those qoutes makes me really appreciate the dream: it has such clarity! but then he's so depressed (reciting the lyrics and music yes.gif). it's as if he sobered up and then...just goes in for the kill

[/]and then everything takes over[/i]

Well I always thought of it as an epilog, the final phase of transition.

Attention all Planets of the Solar Federation

Attention all Planets of the Solar Federation

Attention all Planets of the Solar Federation

We have assumed control.

We have assumed control.

We have assumed control.

I think the Solar Federation killed him and that is why they sing "we have assumed control" at the end.

I think CooJoe got it right in his first post.

The Elder race have come back & re-taken control of their world.

They left the planet long ago

The elder race still learn and grow

Their power grows with purpose strong

To claim the home where they belong

Home to tear the Temples down...

Home to change!

The Elder race are announcing to the Solar Federation:

Attention All Planets of the Solar Feceration, We have assumed control...

The idea that the priests won doesn't make sense. They are in charge all thru the song, they are the Federation. If they won in the end why would they be announcing "Attention All Planets of the Solar Fedeartion, We have assumed control"? They already have control, are they just reminding themselves?

The idea that the priests won doesn't make sense.  They are in charge all thru the song, they are the Federation.  If they won in the end why would they be announcing "Attention All Planets of the Solar Fedeartion, We have assumed control"?  They already have control, are they just reminding themselves?

it's all a dream with the elder race in control.

dude wakes up, gets a reality check, checks out, and then the priests remind everyone what's up: no one plays guitar in our galaxy.

if the elder race won 2112 would end with some more acoustic guitar. yes.gif

Concerning the question, I agree with Coojoe and DM.

That is what I have though for decades. If it was different, I would have experienced all those chill bumps throughout the years for the wrong reason ... and would ask for them back!

There's was guitar (electric) in the finale.

Another thing, the voice makes it sound like it's being broadcasted (possibly from an Elder Race vessel)

Also the music would likely sound more sinister if it was the federation winning.

Then again it's a song open to interpretation.

i don't think it's open to interpretation because the dude kills himself because he realizes the elders aren't coming back; it is a dream. i know that sounds harsh but if he killed himsef for nothing that would really suck.

perhaps neil tries the happy ending with hemispheres

this is a good point to bring up because the music, if it were brought to theatre, is a great musical score for a nice battle
