When is the last time they did not "Open With a Hit".

The Big Money - Hold Your Fire Tour

Force Ten - Presto Tour & Roll The Bones Tour

Dreamline - Counterparts & Test For Echo Tour

I wouldn't exactly call those hits. Maybe they got airplay back in the day, but do they still play these on the radio???

And I believe Score Out said "radio hit" for the opener, that even non Rush fans could identify.

Typical radio staple Rush songs are:

Tom Sawyer

Limelight

TSOR

Freewill

CTTH

But then again, my local rock station plays crap...so maybe others get to hear a larger variety of Rush. confused13.gif

That's why God invented the iPod...so we don't have to listen to FM radio anymore.

On the contrary, those were "the hits" off of their respective albums.

exactly.......which could mean about 30 different songs if radio hits, album hits etc. are lumped in.

Are you people brain dead? It was suggested radio hit. One that even a non Rush fan could identify.

Whether it's true or not is a completely different discussion. There are only a handful of Rush radio hits that have withstood the test of time.

I understand the difference between radio hit, an album hit...or your favorite song. I also understand that certain songs received airplay when they were initially released. But most of those songs have died on the radio vine in most local markets.

This is getting insane.

I f*&^ing realize they may have been hits when they were released!!! We are talking about CURRENT radio airplay. Do they play those songs as much as TS, TSOR, LL etc.??? Would the non Rush fan be able to identify songs like Dreamline, The Big Money and Force Ten as belonging to Rush. The answer is NO!

And yes...this is 3 pages of stupidity and ignorance.

ok, they WERE hits back in the day that are still CURRENLY played on radio. That should simplify it enough for you.

if you want to know what it means to be "hits" then talk to someone that doesnt know you are a rush fan and ask them if they know who rush is and they will most likely say the band that sings tom sawyer or spirit.

And yes...this is 3 pages of stupidity and ignorance.

I'm going to go ahead and break down why your post is completely ignorant.

Everyone understands that for THIS TOUR...it has been "predicted" that it will open with a current radio hit that non-Rush fans would recognize. Great. We get it, pal.

The problem is, you responded to someone who said "when was the last time they didn't 'Open with a hit'". You then proceeded to list 3 times they did open with a hit and say that those songs weren't hits. People then proceeded to prove you wrong on that count several times, but you went and started talking about irrelevancies like the current tour. News flash, when those tours were going on, "back in the day" as you put it, those were huge radio hits that were played on the airwaves a lot. Hell, they still ARE.

So no, I don't expect they will open with any of those 3 songs. However, that doesn't make it any less stupid to come on here and predict that Rush will "open with a hit" when that's a f***ing given. I mean, come on.

I also just absolutely do not see them ever doing The Body Electric again. It's just TOO 80's for them to pull out. Kid Gloves would make way more sense.

If it is true (you never know...), I'm a little disappointed to see so many 'obvious' songs - SDT, Big Money, Trees, etc. But overall, I like it!

Too 80's? No way dude. The Body Electric kicks ass. I'll shit my pants if they play that. I will be pissed if they play Kid Gloves instead of that. I'm kind of hoping they bust out Red Lenses just so I can hear Ged go off on the bass at the end. Killer groove.

According to the CBC The Hour interview they may be playing "Stick It Out".

The ? was asked to Geddy if there were any songs he loves to play that Alex hates and Geddy mentioned a song they were talking about for the upcoming tour (Stick it Out) and Alex says no it's Neil that hates to play that song.
