Haven't opened it yet. They classify it as a "black IPA." Yum. Anyone try it yet? http://www.stonebrew.com/11th/ale/ Oh man, does that sound good! Had it last night. Good stuff! It's like a stout-like IPA. Not thick like a stout but almost as dark, with that caramel and coffee malt you'd find in a stout joined with the sharp hop bite of an IPA. Through a bit of research I have come to find out that the Stone 11th anniversary ale is now brewed as "Sublimely Self Righteous Ale" which I have in my stock and have drank one of so far. And it is, indeed, a fantastic brew. Good to know. I'll look for that on my next shopping trip.

Very nice finding a couple bottles. Here is a link to its reviews on ratebeer.com. I tried the Sierra Nevada Southern Hemisphere Ale a couple weeks ago as well, that one was pretty hoppy and tasty. Thanks man I'm trying to have something to keep any beer snob happy In the last 6 months the selection of good beer in my area has just exploded. The retailers are really getting into the craft beer scene. I easily have 3-4 times the selection I had at the beginning of the year and I'm really enjoying it. Midway Hawker
I was a little disappointed in the Sierra Nevada Topedo IPA. Very drinkable, but not up to SN standards IMO. It's become a regular bottled deal now, so maybe with more mass production the quality is suffering. Now the SN Harvest Wet Hop Ale.. That is some of the sweetest Ale ever sipped (I mean chugged).. And the Southern "Hemispheres" version is not bad either. My local "Total Wine" store goes thought that stuff like crazy, at $3.99 per 24oz bottle. 5000th post

Snowdog
Today I picked up the new SN Estate Brewers Harvest Ale. I would've picked up a few, but at 10 bucks a bottle, just decided to get one in case I'm not crazy about it. Think I'll try it tomorrow night. Snowdog
QUOTE (PassTheAmmunition @ Oct 3 2009, 06:07 PM) So what did you think of the SN harvest, Snowdog? PTA It was good, but not outstanding. I'd buy a few more if they didn't cost 10 bucks for one 24 oz. bottle. Its classified as an IPA, but I didn't know that until after I was done and looked it up. I honestly thought it was an APA. Its worth trying if you've got the $$$ to spare and you are so inclined, but its not worth $10 IMO. I know its so expensive because they've grown all of the ingredients on the SN Estate, but its just not something I'd buy again. I'm glad I tried it, and I enjoyed it but I enjoy their regular line up just as much as this one and I can get a sixer of those for less than this one brew. Have you tried the Juxtaposition yet? Yeah, its very, very good, but I wouldn't say it is a world class beer. But it is definitely worth the try if you can find it. If you add in shipping I paid to get mine, it cost me about $12 a bottle, which quite honestly, wasn't worth it. But even in the stores, I think they were $7 apiece for a 12 oz bottle. To me it was kinda like a porter, but kinda not. Juxtaposition is a good name because it does kind of buck the typical classifications and characteristics. Snowdog
Very excited to add some 2009 Stone Double Bastard Ale to the Snowdog stock I'll be picking up a case in a week or so and I think I'll cellar half of them. Also picked up some Brooklyn Black Chocolate Stout. I've tried it already and it was excellent. If you like stouts, give this one a try. PassTheAmmunition
Ahh the Double Bastard. Found some at Stew Leonard's Wine's here in NJ last weekend and polished it off imediately during the football games on Sunday. I find I like that much more than the Oaked AB, personally. Also at Stew's I found both the Sierra Nevada Fresh Hop & Wet Hop Harvest ales. Plan to do a side-by-side comparison this weekend (in the name of science and research, of course!) The Vertical Epic '09 is apparently gone from the shelves. Only managed to pick up one this time around, but it twas tasty. PTA
