I've never been to this venue before but I hear it has a nice set up. My brother has been there before so I've heard good things about it. It's not hard to beat the Darien Lake PAC it's a pretty standard layout for an amphitheater. So i'm not sure what time I'm gonna be arriving in the area and if there's gonna be traffic or road construction to halt me on my way there. Having never been to the venue doesn't help my situation much either. Most races get out around 6pm or so, therefore getting there a little early will help. And most of the people getting out of the races will be heading south towards Albany (not all, but most). I expect downtown to be busy as they have a "hats off" celebration each opening and closeing weekend. A lot of fun if you're in town though! Bands, bars, food, fun for all ages. Downtown is quite charming. What hotel are you staying at? I usually try to enter the venue at Avenue of the Pines and park in those first few lots and enter through the back entrance (near the big lawn).
