Now that SPAC is over I am getting pumped for this show. Last time they played 'cuse was when I was 12. My mother wouldn't let me go...I have since forgiven her.

I was at that show. It was my first Rush show. http://www.therushforum.com/html/emoticons/653.gif

Excellent! I had to wait two more tours before I could see them. GUP I coud live with, but the signals tour setlist would have been killer!

Do you remember Geddy getting pissed at someone who threw firecrackers on the stage and calling them assholes?

I took the day off from work to attend the fair

Me, too. But then I found out that my wife's first day back at school is the 2nd! I still have to wait 'til 3ish to pick her up and go.

Got the time booked off work, tickets are in, passport is good to go!! Really looking forward to this one!! I'm going to Nova Scotia with my family then like the day after we get back I'm off to the fair!!

I have a question for any locals, what are some good/affordable hotels near the fairgrounds?

Between my apartment and the fairgrounds there are a few hotels

There is a hotel right across the street from the fair, but I know nothing about it (and there a high chance it's completely booked)

these are going North at the 690 exit of the Thruway (for reference) The Fair is south.

There's a Clarion a bit further down the 690 (Farrell road exit) going toward Baldwinsville, there's a big billboard. It's a nice place, I don't know the prices for it, but the food was excellent 12 years ago when it was a Holiday Inn (my dad worked there).

There's a Comfort Inn off the Jones Road exit It's right off the highway, you can't miss it.

I think there's a Wingate or something a bit off the Van Buren road exit (get off, and take a couple back roads to a hotel seeming in the middle of nowhere). I'm not sure if it's still there (or if someone else owns it).

Going further up 690 toward me there's a Microtel off the Downer street exit in Baldwinsville. It's in front of what used to be a small mall.

I have no idea how good these are (except for the Clarion noted above, but that's outdated info), or their prices (they don't advertise them on the sign anymore)

All you need is a place to sleep, everything else is handled at the Fair (going to the Fair and not eating something is almost against the law)

those are the ones I know of between me and the fairgrounds.

There's a few more around here as well. that aren't right on 690

A Super 8 Motel right off the thruway at route 57 in Liverpool

there's a non-chain one going from the fairgrounds toward the city

a Howard Johnson or something in Liverpool off 481

and a bunch more around the area, in places I don't often go.

But it's a start.

There are some off the NYS thruway as well. Also, all along 690, the main route where the fairgrounds is, are hotels off the road. Your basics like Marriots, Holiday Inns, etc.

Right in downtown, a couple miles from the farigrounds, are some hotels but I am not sure about them being budget friendly?

Thank you very much for the help/suggestions Chrysalii, iluvgeddy05 and ReGorLaTroy. It is muchly appreciated http://www.therushforum.com/html/emoticons/yes.gif

I ended up going with the Super 8 in Liverpool. The price was right, it's fairly close and we get a free breakfast!!!! http://www.therushforum.com/html/emoticons/common001.gif

I don't think I've ever been to Syracuse/Liverpool before, or if I have I was very young and don't remember, so it should be quite an adventure. The guy I'm going with has only been to the states once and that was like 9 years ago ha ha It's going to be a good trip. Really looking forward to it http://www.therushforum.com/html/emoticons/1022.gif

Anybody know if cameras without detachable lenses will be allowed in the concert? It will be a major pain to have to return to the car after a day at the fairgrounds if they prohibit them for the show.

I think someone on here said no cameras allowed in the Grandstand

Pretty strict policy

Weather looks iffy so far http://www.therushforum.com/html/emoticons/sad.gif But it is only Saturday so that could change.

**PRAY FOR SUN**!!

Yes. Let's hope for good weather.

I just got back from the fair a few minutes ago (living so close, I go multiple times occasionally, plus today was the company picnic there)

The best way to get to the Fair from the Thruway is to get off the Thruway on to 690 east going toward Syracuse. Then exit the Lakeland/State Fair Blvd exit and take a left off that exit (exit 5 I think). Takes you right to the parking lot closest to the fairgrounds (and that lot is usually crowded enough that you have to park in the back, close to the grandstand).

But I didn't encounter much traffic going there that way (insane for the Fair), and 690 is always a horror show. There's a traffic light on the highway for the fair (for shuttles from the upper lots)

parking is $5.

Oh and for weather.

Channel 9 has a high of 86F and a 30% chance of rain

Channel 3/5 has 85F with a slight chance of storms

The Weather channel has 79F with isolated T-storms

the National Weather Service has a chance of showers or storms and a high near 88F

Why is The Weather Channel always cooler than everywhere else.

I am ready for this show. My college buddy is coming out to accompany me. We have seen Presto, RTB, T4E, VT, and R30 together. This is going to be fantastic. Beef and Cheddar, Barley soup, and a hand pumped Armory Ale at Clark's before. RUSH!

How is it getting out of there I have to get back to the 690 and then take the I90 east back to Buffalo I know this is a small pic but were will we have to park?
http://a.imagehost.org/0448/parking_lot22.jpg

You'll be taking the I-90 west back to Buffalo. It's a pretty cut and dry route. It doesn't look like they're will be any trouble getting there or getting back. You can just mapquest it for the exact route. I haven't been there before so i'm not sure of the parking situation.

Also, I managed to score front row tickets for this show http://www.therushforum.com/html/emoticons/653.gif http://www.therushforum.com/html/emoticons/new_thumbsupsmileyanim.gif http://www.therushforum.com/html/emoticons/applaudit.gif Does anyone know what the seating situation is like right up by the stage?

Sounds awesome! I have never heard of Clark's but now it has become a must visit locale. http://www.therushforum.com/html/emoticons/653.gif
