You get 1 choice. What is your favorite song of all time. Can be from any band or artist. Tough question huh?

Mine pick is 'The Last Resort' by the Eagles.

I love the music in Les Miserables... 'specially "Hear my Prayer."

My all time favourite has got to be Red Barchetta.

If you're talking non-Rush its generally a toss up between

Kashmir - Led Zep

Sweet Emotion - Aerosmith

Baker Street - Gerry Rafferty

Hotel California - Eagles

Dancing With the Moonlit Knight - Genesis

Forgotten Sons - Marillion

If I have to pick one -

Pink Floyd - Comfortably Numb

I'm with Slaine and Rickyrob on Forgotten Sons as well, powerful song, and I was lucky enough to see them in Dublin in '85, when after performing Misplaced Childhood live in its entirity for the first time ever (and last for a while, Fish's throat gave in the following week and the UK and European tour were cancelled), the closed the gig with Forgotten Sons.

Brilliant.

launchpad, you have made me make a "self discovery!!!" I've thought about this since you posted it and finally, I can say "I do not have a favorite song of all time." Every time a song came to mind, and there were/are many, I just can't say it's "of all time," Even, The Spirit of Radio, which is my all time favorite 2.gif song, cannot be used as "all time fave" Thanks for letting me get to know myself better rofl3.gif

The last resort is a great song launchpad, it isn't my fav, but kudos on that choice.

Wow, as much as I love music, celebrate it, take inspiration from it, it is a VERY tough question. just as I type this, several choices come to mind.

Here are a few:

Kansas: The Wall

Steely Dan: Aja

Queen: The Prophet's song.

Floyd: shine on you crazy diamond

Rush: Freewill and Entre Nous

ELO: Mr. Blue Sky

Ealges: Seven Bridges road

Triumph: Ordinary Man

and many others ...

but, if I had to choose one ...

Yes: And You And I

This is way too tough to choose one song, or even 10 songs for that matter..

So I've decided to think of songs that I don't own (never bought the album) but love from Radio play, as that is the only place I've heard them....

Carry on Wayword Son - Kansas

Dust in the Wind - Kansas

Foolin' Yourself (Angry young man) - Styx

Renegade - Styx

Hotal California - Eagles

Actually, that is not quite accruate. I owned the Pieces of Eight album by Styx on vinyl, but I've never owned the CD... So sue me tongue.gif .

picking one song is too difficult. i always seem to have a favorite song but it usually changes too quickly for me to say only one. the songs i never get tired of are:

Pearl Jam - Crown of Thorns

Rush - Closer to the Heart

Yes - It Can Happen

Bad Company - Rock and Roll Fantasy/Ticket to Ride/I Feel Fine

Led Zeppelin - Stairway to Heaven

if i were to only pick one i guess it would be Stairway to Heaven.

This truly is difficult...

...the only way to solve this is tournament style:

Wait for Sleep

Through her Eyes

Bruce Springstien - Thunder Road

Megadeth - A Toute Le Monde

Prog Rock/Other Division:

Steve Vai - For the Love of God

John Petrucci - Glasgow Kiss

Thanatopsis - Final Reparation

Jason Becker - End of the Beginning

Round Two/Three

Rush Division:

The Pass vs. Sweet Miracle = The Pass

Time Stand Still vs. Bravado = Bravado

---

Bravado vs. The Pass = The Pass

Dream Theater Division:

Strange Deja Vu vs. Solitary Shell = Strange Deja Vu

Wait for Sleep vs. Through her Eyes= Through Her Eyes

---

Strange Deja Vu vs. Through Her Eyes = Through Her Eyes

Classic/Hard Rock Division:

Bob Seger - Still the Same vs. Foreigner - Jukebox Hero = Still the Same

Bruce Springstien - Thunder Road vs. Megadeth - A Toute Le Monde = A Toute Le Monde

---

Still the Same vs. A Toute Le Monde = Bob Seger - Still the Same

Prog Rock/Other Division:
