I do not know if there is a thread for this subject. If there is, I apologize. Anyway I think this can be fun.

So all questions/answers pertain to TV shows going back as far as the mind can go. Here is the first question.

What happened on June 12, 1983?

Nope. That was February 28, 1983.

I'll figure this out....

I'm "cheating" and still can't figure it out.

It was a Sunday. In Prime Time, we had "Alice," "One Day at a Time," "Knight Rider," and "Trapper John." There was also an ABC Sunday Night Movie, and maybe another movie on another network... perhaps I'll dig further on those.

Meanwhile, Brooke Shields graduated from High School, Andy Warhol was photographed visiting the Bronx Zoo (and the original poster is from the Bronx), and an old Academy Award-winning actress named Norma Shearer died.

On "That's Incredible," a man stuffed 80 cigarettes, 12 cigars, and 3 pipes into his mouth. Live.

A-ha! I may have figured it out. It's from an old TV show, "Land of the Giants," which aired between 1968 and 1970, was created by the same creator as "Lost in Space," and was set in the future... 1983. A ship called The Spindrift crashes on the Land of the Giants and its crew and passengers quickly find themselves in a struggle for survival. The crash supposedly occurs on June 12, 1983.

Spindrift. A Rush reference. Is this it???

Damn, that's obscure!

Does GR have to post a question now?

This looks like fun!

Yeah, that was the rule in the old trivia thread, so I see no reason no to continue that tradition here.

OIH: there is indeed another tv trivia thread, but it's completely fine that you've started a new one. There's no rules against redundant threads, and if there were this board would be half the size that it is! laugh.gif

VERY obscure!

So it's my turn? Here's a "Cheers" question:

For three full seasons (beginning of the 6th season to the end of the 8th season), Cheers was owned by the Lillian Corporation. Then Sam bought the bar back in the 8th season finale. How much did he pay?

nothing?

No, he paid something.

The offer was for $1, but Sam had nothing in his wallet. A few of the gang gave him some loose change, and the total - which was accepted by the corporation - was?

Sam: Hey, guys. I low-balled him!
