DiscipleofLerxst
I can't remember but I thought I heard he used something like light tops heavy bottoms, but I don't know the guages.

Yep, that's what I remember about Markleys -- they go dead rather fast. They're fine if you're Alex Lifeson and you change your strings before each and every gig. Of course, it also helps to have an endorsement deal that supplies you with all the strings you'll ever need for free. We hacks don't have that luxury. Rendclaw
What is a good brand of string that you would recommend? I have been playing D'ddario XL .10s ever since I picked up the guitar. Any suggestions?

1-0-0-1-0-0-1
I've been using Ernie Balls for years now. I like how D'Addarios sound, but I found the wound strings had too much finger slide noise as compared to other brands. I've never heard anyone else complain about that, so maybe it's just me, but I found that extra noise to be annoying. Sucks, because D'Addarios are made right here on Long Island, and I would love to use only their stuff. I do use their Phosphor Bronze acoustic strings, though. I remember hearing that too. I use the Blue Steel .009 .046 as well and have for years. As far as the strings loosing sustain quickly, I haven't noticed but I change my strings every two weeks. I play once a week with a band and maybe once or twice on my own. I just love the sound of fresh strings, they are just so bright and clear. I hate playing on dead strings.
