Nice! Good choice on the alternate name, too.  new_thumbsupsmileyanim.gif

Clips or it didn't happen.  tongue.gif

Thanks!

Any requests?

Hmm. I was thinking Digital Man but maybe I can work up something from GUP.

Ok I did an easy one (because I already knew it).

For a guitar that started life as a cheapo Squier Affinity it don't sound bad at all.

Here ya go, Rush is on the left channel and I'm on the right channel:

http://www.trfmusicians.com/media/uhp2/mus...ed_Sector_A.mp3

There's a couple goofs but it was one quick take.

Forgot all about this request...real nice job, Pete. That's the perfect tone for that song, too. The upper notes of all those chords ring out nice and clear. yes.gif

Thank you sir!

I went ahead and got those cheap locking tuners from GFS that we were discussing. They are pretty nice. They lock from the top like PRS tuners. No thumbwheel on the backside.

This little guitar turned out really nice but it's going to be my alternate tuning guitar. I'll use it for Between the Wheels and The Big Money.

Nice on those tuners. I got those Fender Schallers and they do indeed have the staggered posts, which is supposed to allow the removal of the string trees. With those tuners and with the absence of the trees, along with the Graph Tech nut I had installed, that guitar has never been easier to tune and KEEP in tune.

Only problem is, even with the staggered posts, the string angle coming off the back of the nut still isn't steep enough to keep the strings firmly seated in the nut. Looks like I need string trees anyway, so I ordered a pair of roller trees and a pair of Graph Tech ones. At only $5 a pair I could afford to get both and experiment. You have any experience with either of those?

If I sent you my 1986 Squire Strat, could you work it up that way?

Its a cream color, and I would LOVE it black. With better tuners and pickups.

We can discuss pricing privately of course.

I have the roller trees on both Strats. I just have one tree on each (the B & E strings). They work great and dont't hamper tuning stability at all.

I used to have them both on the Hentor but the one on the D & G strings was unnecessary.

I could do the bridge, hardware, and electronics work but I'm no painter. I couldn't help you there.

Actually, I'm sure you could do the work. It's pretty basic.

I definitely need one for the G string -- I'm getting some excess and audible vibrations from behind the nut on all three unwound strings. I'll try leaving the D string out from under the tree.

Thanks, Pete...I'll try the roller trees first.

holy crap, that could be coolest hentor yet. nice work.

Do you connect all the pu's to the one tone control?

I ask only because i'm converting my american "blackie" to a black on black this weekend and might look to reconfigure the tone controls while i'm in there.

I love that black on black. Second only to the black on black w/maple IMO.

Mine will look like this on Saturday (with new Vintage 54 noiseless pickups)!

Yep, it's wired with a master tone. The tone pot is a push/pull that splits the bridge pup. The switch is for 3 pup Gibsons. It gives a bridge/bridge+middle/neck combination. It's cool but for what I'm using this guitar for, it's always on the bridge pup.

Just yesterday I remembered that I had a Lawrence L500 that used to be in the white Hentor. It's an old one that I've had since around 1980. The colors aren't right (it has black & cream coils) but I put it in tonight and it sounds killer. It has more punch and those strong high-mids that Lifeson has on the Power Windows album.

Put up some pics of yours when you get her done, ok?

What the heck does it say on the headstock?
....
It looks like the first four letters are...P O R K?

That sounds correct. The guitar was on display at the RnR Hall of Fame in Cleveland when I visited in 2003. The description mentioned that it was heavily modified by Alex and named something weird. Something pertaining to pigs, is what my memory recalls.

It was placed next to Geddy's black double-neck Ric and the oil derrek from T4E tour(?).

Well, I'm doing my part to kickstart the economy via late night shopping.

ha.

I've just loaded Fender Noiseless SCNs into my black strat (all singles) and it sounds unreal...dead quiet, perfectly even volume across all positions yet the bridge pu tone is darker than stock (which is just what I wanted)

I've also switched out the Bill Lawernce 500 in the bridge on the white strat for a new Gibson '57 classic plus (so its now a pre-hentor)....sounds great through the headphones, cant wait to crank it!

Very happy on both accounts now. yes.gif

So I just scored a 1977 black stratocaster that I believe it's sole purpose was put on this earth to be fully converted in a hentor.

Normally I wouldn't have the heart to customize an actual 70s strat, but look at this thing....original floyd and a 3 way toggle already installed?

Are you kidding me?

Good for resale value? no.gif

Has to be done? yes.gif

Getting there....spent all day on this sucker...didn't even cut the strings or polish it because i've seen enough of it today...

http://img24.imageshack.us/img24/3136/77hentor.jpg

The pickguard is not the final one, and my back started to hurt so I didn't install the push/pull pot for the middle PU yet. But the routing and graphite nut replacement went well and I'm happy overall so far...

This floyd is a pain in the azz thou. I have all 5 springs on it because they keep popping off with less than 5. arg. I have another original floyd that works great but it has the fine tuners. Anyone else ever have this problem with an old floyd?
