| Ugh. Right when I'm starting to feel better, I read this-Transgender Teen Found Burned to Death on Detroit Highway Sorry to post something so depressing, but wtf is wrong with people? |
I f***ing hate the human race sometimes. That is sick. What the hell is wrong with these people? Why is it so f***ing hard for people to accept other people's gender preferences? Why is it their business, so much so that they have to make the effort to not only discourage it but to end lives that have all the promise in the world? Why are they still alive?

Some people are so terrified of difference that they will kill the thing that scares them. They live in fear of anything that is not "normal" IOW, not like them. It's almost pitiable except that they choose to deal with their fear by lashing out and destroying the thing that scares them. Sadly, these people don't just die out as they ought to, they raise their offspring to be afraid.

A very wise man once said: "Try to hold some faith in the goodness of humanity."
Believe me, Neil, I try. But sometimes, it's not very easy.

So this is probably the best place to announce that I'm getting married! I got engaged on Christmas! No date yet but I'll post updates here as they happen. Our biggest hurdle right now, more for him than me, is that where we live they only allow civil unions. I'm not cool with that but I love the life we've made here. I don't want to move just to say we are legally married. He does. We're working it out and trying to come up with some kind of compromise. I would actually be willing to forego the kilts which is something I would never budge on before! That's an even trade, no?

Could you compromise and get married in a state where it is legal? It's only a matter of time before that marriage will be recognized in the state you're in, or God willing things will be changing big time soon and it won't be an issue anymore.
Regardless, and far more importantly, congratulations! Another suggestion would be to compromise on the kilts and instead wear lederhosen.

The full thread is a very long and interesting read. The ebb and the flow of the voices the come to and float away from TRF. I feel like I know each of you a litte better now; you who have posted on this thread since 2008 when the OP started it.
goob!!!
for the bump to a thread I had not yet seen, so deep is TRF. I didn't know TRF was so beautiful (I didn't know, I didn't know...) VarianStar (yes, there are lesbians who love Rush, but you still don't have a shot with Alex
rhys (that you prefer) or yaoi (that you love) - regardless, your are a brave man of character and I hope your journey is progressing well
Mara, ILSnwdog, iluvgeddy05, HowItIs, Janie, NewWorldKid and everyone else
As far as SOCN, I venture in there on occasion. I have been very offended by some of the things that I've read in there. But, I've met some very nice people in there, too, despite any political difference we have. You *must* have a thick skin to venture in there. One of life's hard truths. Sometimes people say things that piss you off, but they're still good people. Sometimes they're not. Most times, I find it is simply not worth an argument for the energy it requires. The energy is better spent on constructive pursuits, not arguing in forums trying to open a closed mind, imo. It is entertaining reading sometimes.
I'm debating putting the colors on the signature. My wife thinks I should.

My first "love" was my girlfriend in high school. I was head over heels in love with her, but she was a little too friendly with anyone who'd get with her. Oh well, I don't need someone like that lol.
I can't believe, to this day, I married a guy. It's so weird! He knows of my desire to be with a woman again someday and he understands. (shocker...LOL)
omg I still remember, at like 6 years old, my mom found a folder of pictures of actresses and female singers I had in my room. she asked me why I had it, and I said "I like looking at pretty women." she asked about guys and I said I wasn't interested LOL.
......when I came out at 17, everyone said the same thing- "I know. I've known for years." haha.

First, I’m not even .111111111% gay (Hint to all hot women over 40 who wouldn’t mind living in the wilderness of northern Canada. I’m a great cook and I promise never to hork, pick my nose or scratch my onions in front of you. We have free health, remember.) and I just could NOT imagine “gettin’ with” another dude. However, I do NOT understand why people are opposed to two dudes getting married or a couple of women getting married, or whatever.
First, the marriage of two “straight” people has no bearing on my life. How the hell COULD it? It’s THEIR marriage, not mine. So, WHY would or HOW could, the marriage of two homosexual people matter? It’s not like I have to share my bed with them or let them borrow my truck on the weekends… It’s none of anyone’s GODDAM business what OTHER people do. It sure seems to me that the vast majority of the opposition to gay marriage comes from the right wing of the political spectrum, and especially, from what I refer to as the “bible thumpers.” If people believe what’s written in the bible (a book that was written by humans) then fine… they are allowed to. But, not everyone believes what’s written in the bible or believes in the bible in any context whatsoever. (Me being one of them.) In other words – once again – people need to learn how to mind their own business! If it bothers you to see two women walking down the sidewalk holding hands, look away.
Personally, I hate rap music. But, does that mean the government should outlaw it? Of course not. I simply choose to not listen to it. If it comes on the radio, I turn it off. (I usually curse and roll my eyes first!!)
So, here we are today, where the US government is trying figure out this whole gay marriage issue and whether or not legally married homosexuals would be permitted to use the same taxation rules that heterosexuals do. Some states, it seems, allow gay marriage, but do NOT allow those LEGALLY MARRIED PEOPLE the same taxation benefits as straight people. This is BULLSHIT. If that’s the case, then the state governments should classify these same people as being “sort of allowed to be legally married.” Am I wrong? As far as I’m concerned, married is married.
Back in the 50s, Rosa Parks refused to give her seat to a white dude on a bus in Montgomery, Alabama. They actually THREW HER IN JAIL. Eventually, it was ruled that blacks no longer had to. Thank GAWD for that tid-bit of common sense. But could you imagine if the ruling was that blacks could keep their seat only under certain conditions… (Throw them a bone, or tease them a little bit). That’s sort of what some states are saying now… two men can get married… sort of, but not really. They can, but they can’t use the same tax code that “normal” people can.
Speaking of “normal,” I laugh my ass of when some people (usually church-goers) say that one can be “cured” of being a homosexual. They have “camps” for this type of “condition.” People don’t choose anything when it comes to sexual orientation. People are born one way or the other. Or, both ways… There is NO choice. I saw two male deer going at it once… they were having a great ol’ time. I think I even remember hearing the one who was at the rear saying to the other one, “Oh ya… you’ve been a very, very bad boy lately.” He was even pulling on his antlers… (No hair to pull.)
I can’t wait for the whole world to realize that we’d all get along so much better if we’d all simply mind our own goddam business. Okay, some dude has a different skin colour than I do… some woman goes to church three days a week and believes every single word in the bible… or, two chicks want to get married… Let them, but give the SAME rights as everyone else. Isn’t that why we live in a democratic society? Human rights? (The word “human” is the key is it not?)
Holy shit, I feel better now!
Sort of, but not really...
