Schro
Ok, folks - I've come up with a brand new game. I'm guessing there's one or two of you out there that has read The Hobbit? Good! Remember the chapter where Bilbo meets Gollum and they give each other riddles to see who gets the ring? I thought they were very cool and thought it would be a great idea for a Rush game. So here's the gig. Take any piece from Rush trivia or songs that you want, and make a riddle around it, Hobbit style. Dance around the obvious and confuse your readers to your heart's content. Worry not too much for eloquence, just have fun with it! I will start. Gather round the fire and listen to my tale: I'm a bit of an enigma. Warm yet wintry. Sunny yet shadowy. Sometimes I can't even figure myself out. I'm a bit of a loner. Some think me not kind, but untrue! I long to give everyone a warm embrace. But cross me and surely you shall eat your words. I'm a bit too much for some people and not enough for others. Some say my head is too big. If that's true, why do so many yearn for what I know? They just don't understand me. I'm a bit obtrusive. Some even say I'm pushy. I just like to see people on their way. Come into my heart, and I will guide you. Who am I? Pags
This is a very cool idea. I'm going to take a guess but I'm not sure I want to be right, because then I'll have to come up with something next. Anyway... Cinderella Man?
Schro
Congrats on diving right in paganoman! Thanks for the compliment - I was hoping some folks would get into this. Sadly, your guess of Cinderella Man is not it. Keep trying! Oh, by the way - if any of you get it right and are a bit daunted by coming up with one of these yourself, you can always defer to me or anyone else you'd like. I've love coming up with this stuff. Possibly, maybe I am your destiny so don't step on me" Ouch RickyRob! That's a doozy! I can see between this riddle and Madra's anagram I'm not going to get any work done today. Fear not - Schro is on the case! But hopefully not the only one - come on guys, this is too much fun. Schro P.S. Not sure what you mean by "looked a little deeper into that one". Do you mean you caught all my subtle clues? Or do you mean you extracted clues that I didn't even know I put in there? Or possibly that you digged deeper than paganoman's guess? rickyrob
QUOTE (Schro @ Feb 3 2005, 11:35 AM) The Fountain of Lamneth? Because you are the pioneer of this, it read as though it should be a person, which is what I was thinking at first, then thought deeper and read the subtle clues. BTW, Fountain of Lamneth is wrong I didin't think it that difficult actually, and didn't put too much in fear of really giving it away.

BTW, Fountain of Lamneth is wrong I didin't think it that difficult actually, and didn't put too much in fear of really giving it away. Yes, I did that intentionally to throw people off a bit. I always figure that there a such hardcore fans around here, that anything remotely direct will be figured out in about 15 seconds, so I tried to make it a bit tougher so it would be a better challenge. I'm glad you brought it up. I think, if you're describing a person - feel free to describe it as a thing instead, and conversely ask "who am I" for things not people, as I did. Once that trend goes awhile, then you'll really be able to confuse them by describing a person as a person, only they'll think surely you're describing a thing, and subsequently will have to take a bottle of Mydol when they find out you were actually after a person. If I didn't have so many dang meetings this afternoon, I'd have more guesses. Cheers, Schro

rickyrob
QUOTE (Schro @ Feb 4 2005, 12:38 PM) Still no clue, but here's a stab: Dreamline? ...getting more off the mark. I thought you would have got it fairly easily actually. So I'm gonna have to give you a bigger clue... in the final line there is the word 'me'.....again this suggests a person, but it isn't: Its a '******' (thing), and this forms part of the answer. When you get it, you will kick yourself as it will all come clear.

Schro
Thanks for playing Rickyrob, be nice if more people got in on this. Alright, here's the next one. Gather round the fire and see if you can solve this riddle: People look at me strangely. No matter, they've got their opinion and I've got mine. People say I don't listen, but I hear everything. I just don't know what they're talking about. It's a crazy world - I'm careful where I drive these days. One wrong turn and you could be smashed to bits and pieces. Perhaps I should fly instead. Bah - those things are giant deathtraps if you ask me. I have a pet peeve - why must golfers play so slow? Maybe you've got all day but some of us don't. At least recongize when the people behind you are constantly waiting. Let 'em skip ahead already - is that so hard? People are so wishy-washy. I say roll the dice and make your move. Or is it make your move and roll the dice? No matter, the key is adjusting as you go. Been nice chatting with you, but I fear I must be going. Lest I overextend my stay. Good Luck!!
