Who's the worst singer you've ever heard?

For me, this is an easy one. Ever since I saw this band's video on MTV about 15 years ago I site the singer from Dinosaur Jr. as the worst I've ever heard.

Good guitarist (I guess), but just awful singing.

Kate Nash is another I can't stand.

She basically talks with a little sprinkling of notes here and there. Unfortunately, alot of the new British scene is like this. New bands are so damn insistent on keeping themselves 'British', they don't string enough notes together to create a melody. Apparently, singing in a coherent melody is too 'American'

Yet somehow, Klaxons manage it perfectly.

In terms of actually bad singers; Kele Okerele of Bloc Party, David Bowie and Lemmy come to mind. But they're bad singers that I like.

In terms of my least favourites; The guy from Kings of Leon, Claudio Sanchez and all those screamo types/

Besides the fact that Claudio doesn't scream. eh.gif

Great songwriters but awful singers: Bob Dylan and Neil Young.

I'll agree with whoever said Billy Corgan. Sounds like a nasal whine to me, and it doesn't take long to get on the nerves.

I also agree with the Janis choice. Shoot me.

And I'll get killed for this, but... James LaBrie. It's not that his tone is bad or anything, it's just that his voice doesn't suit the band, IMO. LaBrie belongs in an 80s hair band. If it weren't for his voice, I might actually listen to the five DT albums I have; God knows the instrumentalists are all extremely talented.

Whoever the lead singer was for a band called Stryper. He was awful.

Billy Corgan reminds me of a dying goose, the Radiohead singer (he just sounds like a wuss I'm sorry I can't f***ing stand him), Courtney Love but I guess it's more screaming... I can't think of any more. But Billy definitely tops my list. When I hear him I wish I was deaf.
