I play through a Rivera - 55WChubster (PRS McCarty, Gibson LP Classic, Fender Telly)

http://www.fxmusic.pl/foto/foto_150_3.jpg

Nice! I've read great things about the Riveras.

I play through two Marshall 4140 Club and Country Combos. They are older amps from the late 70's, which mean they are hard to maintain, but I love the sound of them. They are very clean and bluesy sounding and they take pedals very, very well.

In my "B" rig I use a Peavey classic 30 run through a Yamaha 2x12 cabinet for more bottom end. I love the sound of the Peavey amp. I can coax a wide range of tones from this little amp. I can go all the way from The Black Crows to Metallica with just my EMG equipped guitar and the amp. No pedals at all.

You have two 4140's? Sweet! how do they sound, man..... 1022.gif

This is my current amp, it's great for recording direct through my mixer (go figure) and with the built in attenuator I can some pretty good tube warmth without pissing off the neighbors or my better half. I use a variety of effects (Tonebone classic, TC VPD1, TC G System) and software (GR3, GTR3) to get overdriven tones. It has a built in compressor and overdrive, but I don't really like them so they aren't used.

When I retire from the Army and can buy a house with a little more space I'll get something that can really push air, like a H&K Triamp MKII or perhaps a London 65. I may eventually get a dual amp setup with a Twin Reverb for clean tones (I had one previously but it was just too loud for use in my home) and an H&K or something similar for high gain tones.

Might I suggest a Mesa Boogie LoneStar for your clean tones, and a Mesa Boogie Stiletto Ace for your higher gain settings? And if the Ace isn't powerful enough (though it should be) there are also the Deuce and Trident versions of the Stiletto as well.

i love it! it has pretty much everything i need. i dont use the distortion modelers that much, i think they sound kinda cold, though i dont think the tube screamer model is that bad. i havent looked at any other effect stuff since i got it, and it will probably be awhile until i go looking for something else . this guy does a pretty good demo of it, and theres a buch of other good videoes of the m13 on youtube.

If the Twin is too loud try the Deluxe Reverb. They are almost the same amp, but a less power and only one speaker. They are very close to the Twins. I have a Deluxe reverb that I love.

anyone here tried the bogner alchemist? it sounds pretty good on the videoes ive seen on youtube. but ive learned it the hard way that i have to test it out myself before i buy a amp. the h&k switchblade arrived on tuesday, except from the clean channel the amp sounds like shit, i cant believe these things are going for $2640 (norwegian price) it does sound very nice in the demo at their site, but in real life the distortion sounds thin and lifeless. so now im looking for something else. an amp with a plexi type sound and a petrucci like mesa lead would be perfect. in this video here it sounds like the bogner alchemist does those sounds pretty good, but how does it sound in real life? anyone played one of the alchemists?

I agree about the Switchblade.......I tested one out for a bit a few weeks ago, and thought it was lacking big time.......way too much money also. The clean channel was pretty disappointing and the distortion lacked "punchiness". I sat with it for about 30 mins or so and walked away pretty disappointed. I sure don't get the hype surrounding them.

Next visit, I sit with the zenTerra, and test it out.

yeah, the switchblade was nothing like i thought it would be. even the h&k edition silver (one of h&ks cheaper amps) i had some years ago sounded way better than the SB.

The Switchblade is a zenTera with one preamp tube and output tubes added. You'd think the addition of tubes to a modeling amp would make it sound better, right?

I've yet to try either amp, but _pete_ uses a zenTera and he makes it sound killer. He bought a Switchblade a while back and did an A/B comparison of both, and he returned the Switchblade.
