[Bahamas]

Just listened to Dog Years tonight, some of the most intense drumming...ever! They love (d) dogs, there is a reason.
And Half The World? Amazing guitar and bass.
I speak for myself when I say, ya'll are SUPER critical in a personal way, not a musical way?
Superconductor, how many key changes? And super cool electro-voice add-ins, like Subdivisions.

I like those songs but they don't do too much for me

Tai Shan immediately pops to mind when anyone says “worst” Rush song but it’s such an oddball little clunker that I usually just forget it exists.

There are quite a few songs I don’t care to listen to, like most of Vapor Trails, CA or Presto, but that’s partly due to poor production and partly due to what I see as a bit of burnout on their part. Not every song can be a La Villa.

The lyrics never bothered me. Dog Years’ lyrics never bothered me. Rush’s two worst songs’ lyrics never bothered me (Bravest Face and Spindrift).

Natural Science became my favorite Rush song before I even knew what they lyrics meant.

Rush lyrics were always the icing on the cake but they never totally ruined or made any of their songs.

Repetitive for sure but they never bothered me too much. The song itself I don’t like too much.

I always thought the Cygnus X-1 lyrics and singing was Spinal Tap cheesy. But as an instrumental on the last tour it kicked ass.

As for “SUPER critical in a personal way”, if Rush affects us in a SUPER personal way then wouldn’t it follow that we’d be super critical of this and that?

I don’t mind Superconductor btw, but it makes sense why hardcore Rush fans would at times be overly-analytical of certain Rush moments / traits.

Face Up is different. For sure, very "poppy" and "teen radio" perhaps.

But my goodness, the guitar is nothing to ignore.

I have read before, and continue to believe, they never put out anything they didn't think was worth making.

Perhaps, listen again (!) and just listen to the guitar. Very fun and was probably a great amount of fun to make, sure sounds that way.
