searchingforthelostxanadu
I hadn't heard a truly annoying Rush song until I ran into Red Tide while listening to Presto one day. The horns are cringeworthy. But they're bad enough to just throw the whole song away.
diatribein
I really like Red Tide. It's in definitely one of my 5 favourite songs from Presto. I think it is all synthesizers, no actual horns were harmed in the making of this song. If I am going to nominate a song, I guess I would go with Here Again. I already am not a fan of blues and this song is long and slow and such drudgery, but that whole album is sort of proto-RUSH so it doesn't matter as much. On TheRoad To Adventure
Dog Years. I can't believe others are listing some of my favourites as their least favourite. I guess it just proves that Rush has a broad fan base, and that there is something in all of lyrics that will appeal to someone.
Entre_Perpetuo
Probably Heresy, since it's the one from the overtly forgettable Roll The Bones that's so lightweight I can't remember a single hook off the top of my head. At least You Bet Your Life is catchy (maddeningly so actually). They both suck, but one already practically doesn't exist, and that one is Heresy.
chain__lightning
QUOTE (rickyrob @ Sep 6 2007, 07:39 AM) Virtuality and the very worst... Carve Away the Stone I'm a little puzzled by some of the above posts hello rickyrob, I'm suprised that you think those songs are the worst you've heard. butt in the beginning I had also problems with the test for echo album,I just could find the feeling for it...but after a while I tried again and then I got the feeling...just like that.maybe you still have found it it yet. but no hard feeling, every person can't be the same... grtz Same for me! it's not my favorite album but I don't hate any songs on it. I love Carve Away The Stone!
chain__lightning
First time I listened to Dog Years I bursted out laughing at the absurd lyrics. Ridiculous.I believe that was the intent. That this seems to be lost on so many.. It's pretty bad but i don't hate it. The Chorus just sends it down the shithole
chain__lightning
I will go along with Speed of Love. Wow, would make a really good Michael Bolton song with that title. Also, Second Nature. Don't really like the melody, tempo, etc. Just doesn't appeal to me. And I am shocked that no one has mentioned Between Sun And Moon."Ah yes to yes to ah to yes" (what the hell is that?)"Why the sun? Why the sun?" (why this song?) There are a handful of Rush songs I would classify as "cheesy" and these are among them. Yes, I think I would rather listen to Rivendell than any of these songs. And you know what, I think it's ok to have these discussions. I still love Rush regardless but some of these songs.....eesh! Listen to the Rio live version of Between Sun and Moon. It will blow you away, as it did for me.
chain__lightning
In a vast career i can make a pretty good list. Tai ShanHigh WaterSuperconductorFace upCountdownBy-TorWhich HuntCygnus book 1 and IRed LensesSpeed of LoveDouble agentNobody's HeroBu2bCaravanCarniesSeven Cities of Gold And all of T4E except Resist. Also all of VT. T4E and VT are the lowest of lows Mick Holy crap That's a lot... Tai Shan is pretty badI like High WaterLOVE SuperconductorFace Up is pretty goodCountdown is greatI don't really like By TorWitch Hunt is greatCygnus 1 and 2 are amazingRed Lenses is awesome, that bass line especially!Speed of love would get a 3/10Double Agent is demented but so gooooodI love Nobody's HeroBu2B is eh, uh, oh...Same with the last three. Test for Echo is an album that takes a while to adapt to and I can understand where you are coming from. Resist is awesome, a beautiful tune, but so are many others on there! VT is the same way with the adapted sound. I hated the whole thing for a few years but now I only dislike a few songs on it. You should give these two albums another try and let it sync in, you won't regret it! I can guarantee that a lot of us have been through the same thing. chain__lightning
Jeez, can't even rembember the name, some foolishness about "net boy net girl". Virtuality! The lyrics could be better but the song overall isn't too bad

searchingforthelostxanadu
There isn't a Rush song I truly hate, but Red Tide...ugh! The grating horns just throw it off, and I mean WAY OFF!
Na na na
Probably Heresy, since it's the one from the overtly forgettable Roll The Bones that's so lightweight I can't remember a single hook off the top of my head. At least You Bet Your Life is catchy (maddeningly so actually). They both suck, but one already practically doesn't exist, and that one is Heresy. Heresy is the first Rush song I didn't like, and mostly because of the lyrics.
Fridge
Nobody's Hero is an embarrassing cringefest of ham handed, awkward lyrics... A festival of shit served warm between two slices of rancid cabbage.

JohnnyBlaze
Half the World Lyrics that could have been written by a fourth grader combined with dull music. It's a cute little pop song. Not everything has to sound like natural science. And Rush knows this. Who gives a shit if the lyrics are a bit pedestrian? It's a catchy tune. Maybe you should take a cue from the boys and lighten up a bit.If I appreciated dullness and mediocrity, you'd have at least 4123 likes.http://memecrunch.com/meme/7SRG/oh-snap/image.png?w=400&c=1 I'm 3 years too late on the brutality.
