At work , I'm working on pulling together a local news review of the year, so I'm getting into reminiscence mode. Let's look back on what was a momentous year.

My fave albums (no particular order)

Rush - Feedback (mini album or extended ep???? It's in anyway!)

Republic of Loose - This Is The Tomb Of The Juice

Horslips - Rollback (my current avatar)

Wilco - A Ghost Is Born

The Zutons - Who Killed The Zutons

U2 - How To Dismantle An Atomic Bomb

PJ Harvey - Uh Huh Her

Franz Ferdinand - Franz Ferdinand

Nouvelle Vague - Nouvelle Vague

REM - Aroud The Sun.

Other musical highlights -

Being present in Derry when Horslips played together for the first time in nearly 24 years.

MCing the album launch by traditional Irish band "Arcanadh", most of whom are friends of mine from around here.

Getting into the front row at Orbital's last European gig at the Oxegen (sic) Festival in County Kildare.

Gary Numan, Birmingham, September

and most importantly.....................

Poping my 2.gif cherry after 22 years of waiting

September 11th 2004 NEC Birmingham

Well, not all these are musical, but it's nice to stop and reflect:

My youngest son has come so far this year, and is communicating better than he ever has. My older son is a brilliant, thriving first grader (not that I'm bragging smile.gif)

This year I joined my first internet board, something I'd never done before, just to try to find a clip of Neil on Politically Incorrect, and look at me now wink.gif - January 28, 2004

I got to see Rush 3 times - May 26 (Nashville), July 17 (Las Vegas), and August 18 (RCMH, NY)

I've made some wonderful friends this year, and I appreciate and love you all.

Discoveries of 2004 - It's never too late to catch up

Dream Theater

Spock's Beard

Even in Blackouts

Fail Safe (Film)

Curb your Enthusiasm (TV)

Boothby Graffoe (Comedian)

Personal stuff -

Reaching the half way point on the novel (Finished 2008 at this rate)

Turning 40, while seeing my mental age drop rapidly

Seeing Rush live - people like Nebbish will understand - Rush airplay in Ireland is 0, very few people are aware of them, although they may have heard TS and TSOR. To actually be in the same place as ten other Rush fans was a new experience, never mind 10,000+.

2004 is the year I finally moved back down to my native land of NC from living in cold Boston since 1994 - ten years!

Saw Yes on their 35th anniversary tour.

Didn't see Rush on their 30th anniversary tour.

Not much else happened.

It was a nice year as music is concerned.

I saw Rush again........ and Rammstein.

Nightwish for the first time.

Finally found you guys....

It was a bad year here as economy is concerned, and also the terrorism threat

has become worse here.

A murder because someone said what he thought..... and more of these unpleasant things.

As some Dj said on the radio here, I'm glad this year is almost over, it was a nasty year...
