And given that some members here are not members of Counterparts, this is the quoted post as originally made by "Roll The Bones" -

Got this off of The Alien Shore newsgroup...

Here's a snippet of an interview with Alex and Geddy from when they were in Hamburg, translated (loosely) from German:

What's Neil doing behind the concert hall?

Alex: He's repairing a few small things on his motorbike. He's following the tour on his bike and there's always something. Yesterday he rode from Prague to Poland. Who wants to go to Poland? Maybe no-one except Neil. He just wanted to know how things are over there.

On this tour some venues in Germany were only half full. Are you disappointed, that after 12 years there weren't more people coming to the shows?

Alex: No, that's OK, because earlier we were playing to people assocoiated with the US and British armed forces, and many of those aren't in Germany any longer. Now we're playing for a mainly German audience and they are very enthusiastic. Even when only 4000 people are in the hall: as soon as I look in the faces of the front row, I know that it's been worth it to come over here. It rocks just as much here as in the sold-out concerts in England or Rotterdam. We always lose money on a European tour anyway. We just play because we want to. Geddy especially had stomach ache because it had been so long since we were here.

What's happening after the tour?

Alex: We've worked hard for four years, therefore firstly we'll have a break. I don't want to spend another summer in the studio or on tour. In the next few months I want to have some time with my 10 month old grandson. We certainly won't see the inside of a studio before autumn 2005.

Geddy: We needed 14 months for Vapor Trails, on the other hand Feedback was finished in 3 weeks. That gives me hope for the next record. Maybe we can conjure something up relatively quickly.

Alex: Yet again we have heaps of tour offers. Possibly we'll go to South America for a whole month after the fantastic Brazilian gigs we played on the last tour. I would like to write some music for television again like I did for the Andromeda series.

There are rumours of a Rush-meets-Classic album.

Geddy: We won't record an album, but quite often we have talked about a tour with an orchestra. I like the idea of stretching out into another area and since we're all so young there's still a few things that can happen in our career....

If they were only playing to 4000 at some German concerts - then why couldn't they have played Ireland - they would have got more than 4000 that's for sure! yes.gif fists crying.gif trink38.gif sad.gif mad.gif

Lonely boy (looking for another)

Lonely girl (to love one another)

Lonely hearts (turn to each other)

Lonely souls...

Aahhh, Ireland!

It certainly makes sense that work on a new record would begin in the Fall. That's usually the time of year when they start new projects. I remember Geddy stating once, that they write in the fall and winter, record in the spring, take summer off then release the record the following fall.

If they ever play Ireland, I may even persuade my better half to let me go over the water to see them.

(I suppose I ought to invest in a pair a knee-pads and practice my grovelling).
