neilpeart_gal
QUOTE (madra sneachta @ Dec 7 2004, 03:21 AM) What's Old navy?? Its a clothing store chain here in the states. Ask Chasy about Old Navy. He bought several things there. CT, the one that drives my best friend to drink is the Charmin one w/ the bears in the woods. I mean she goes mental. She says 'I KNOW BEARS S*** IN THE WOODS BUT THEY DON'T USE CHARMIN!!!!!!!!!!!!' Why this has hit such a deeply held principle with her, I'll never know......but its funny to watch her come unglued. And I have to agree on the Empire carpet commercials. What's funny is I remember them from when I was young (and lived nearer to Chicago); Imagine my surprise when they showed up on Tennessee tv a few months back!! Sodoff Baldrick
I miss that old lady with the Harry Carey glasses who used to be in the Old Navy commercials. I'm not too fond of the Enzyte commercials with Bob. Bob scares me.
circumstantial tree
Since I'm trying to get into the Ad agency game, I tend to look at these things. I do believe there are some good commercials out there too. I believe it's United Airlines that had a really good campaign going on. They would feature these really good cartoons that showed a guy going to an interview, only to find he was wearing unmatching shoes. He leaves the interview feeling as if he would never get the job. (I can relate to this one, for sure!) The other one showed this little boy who was fascinated with flight, then it shows him through all phases of his life, til one day he's looking up at the sky again, just as he did as a boy, and sees a jet going by (United) and then decides to take his wife of many years on a pleasure trip. Now, those were really good ads, and made the viewer connect with the "humanness" that is part of the ads.
neilpeart_gal
Too bad United's customer service doesn't live up to their ads (just ask Chas).
circumstantial tree
really? That's a shame. What happened with United Airlines?
neilpeart_gal
LONG story short: they sold him a ticket with a connection that was impossible to make. He had 2 hours to go thru customs at Dulles and make his connection to Nashville. Well customs took him just over 2 hours so he missed his connection. They offered to put him on the next flight, it was overbooked. The next available flight didn't leave out till the next morning. The customer service agent giving him this bad news told him Independence Air had a flight to Nashville that night, and that United would reimburse him for that if he chose to go that route (which he did). We're at 2 months later, after phone calls, emails and letters to United, still no reply as to whether he'll even get the refund he was promised. Needless to say, he's flying American this time (as am I in February).
circumstantial tree
I've flown United from Boston to RDU, and then from Boston to L.A.X. I had to change at Dulles for my trip down to RDU. That is the shittiest airport. I'd complain about them.
GhostGirl
The Hardees one...the girl eating the huge burger on a mechanical bull. HATE IT. All the ED commercials (Enzyte, Cialis, Viagra)...they come on at the MOST awkward times. I'm just WAITING for my 6 year old to say, "What's erectile dysfunction?" circumstantial tree
I agree Ghost Girl. Besides, Hardee's is not good anymore. My hometown was the original headquarters before they got bought out by Carl's Jr. I also agree about those erectile dysfunction commercials. They don't need to air those. See a doctor, for Pete's sake!
Alsgalpal
I dont have television, but the radio commercials I really love, and I bust out laughing when I hear them, are the Greyhound bus conversations... how they talk so fast, and the commercial for eBay car selling. Where the guy is reading all the abbreviations, I roll on the floor with that one, and sadly, they dont play it anymore...

All the ED commercials too, and wayy in the wee hours of the morning they have that gross porn star guy giving infomercials about Extense or whatever it's called...GARG And I wouldn't mind if they took all the "feminine product" commercials off the air too, I mean, if you're a woman over 12 you KNOW about that stuff, don't need to see it on tv. In general, I hate all Old Navy commercials. I generally dont have that much distaste for most commercials, but this is the first one that popped into my mind. Oh, I also hate those stoopid commercials for the Real Gilligan's Island. That is the dumbest premise for a show ever. Even worse then the first Gilligan's Island (then again, I liked that one).
