Family and I just returned from a trip to beautiful St. Augustine, FL. This place is one of the coolest, most gorgeous places in the world. This city is the scene of the crime, where I courted my wife, and we still go there quite often.

We've got the old Castillo de San Marcos military fort. St. George street, and all the cool shops and historic structures, and then the awesome Flagler College and Lightner Museum, which are architectural marvels. And the place has more artists and galleries than you can comfortably shake a stick at.

Did I mention? ...... I love it!

I'll post some pics, when I get around to it.

Anyone wanna share their travel adventures?

Well, I haven't traveled much except for the two Rush trips, which have been well-documented already. But, a few months ago, I took my sons to a local attraction here in Birmingham, and got some neat pics which I shall share. These are from "Vulcan Park," home to the world's largest cast metal statue (56 feet tall) and the largest statue ever made in the U.S. Birmingham used to be quite the "steel city," ergo, we needed a gigantic cast iron "god of the forge" gracing Red Mountain.

So, here are Kerry and Stephen, with Vulcan looming in the background:

A view from the park itself of our gigantic metropolis smile.gif

The boys and I just inside the entrance. We're standing on a really cool map of B'ham, made of native stone from the mountain.

Inside the museum, this is a neat display that shows some things made from iron...Kerry thought it was cool, anyway smile.gif

We did a "scavenger hunt" in the museum, and here's Kerry sitting on a model of Vulcan's big toe, which was one of the items on the list. Stephen's just going, "Wow, that's one big leg!" smile.gif

Finally, views from the top, of the skyline, and the map I mentioned earlier:

And last but not least, a great shot of Vulcan's "HUGE METAL @SS," as my favorite local DJ's call it. icon_really_happy_guy.gif

I love St. Augustine. Miss not being able to go there as much as I did when I lived in Jax. What I wouldn't do for an empanada and picodillo at the Salcedo Kitchen. drool1.gif
