I've been curious lately of what people think about this...

 

I'll go with Moving Pictures, though they're all pretty creative (but what's the deal with the three balls on Hold Your Fire?)

I think Moving Pictures had the best cover ever. It was unique in its own way. Unlike some of the others though.

Well after seeing the old ones so many times my eyes almost don't see them any more the way they used to, if you see what I mean. So at the moment I like Feedback, it has a cool colourful retro look that I like.

 

I always loved the Exit Stage Left package as a whole, the vinyl version. I was awestruck when I bought that on Halloween 1981, pity the album itself turned out to be a bit of a disappointment. Despite that though I treated it reverently, slow, careful movelnts only when getting the records out, for years, certainly for till the back end of the 80s anyway, after that I finally got a bit more blase about it...

For me it's A Show Of Hands. Actually I can't believe I'm the only one of that opinion so far thought it would be a popular choice. Same with the debut. Great album art even if it's really simple.

I had to pick an old one as they meant so much to me. Times are gone where one would cling onto the vinyl cover when listening to an album, reading all the text and staring in scrutiny at the art for hours. For quite a few years now, the actual cover art has meant less and less as the physical media quickly becomes irrelevant once the CD enters the media library. Sad really, or maybe it's just me.

Signals - for so long it seemed so wierd: "WHY have they got a dog sniffing a fire-hydrant??!!"* but I have come to love the picture for itself and also love the blueprint for Lerxtwood Mall on the back. If only Syme had the idea of using bits of sticky tape like he did on A Show Of Hands, it would be perfect.

 

* now I have a dog, years later, I realise the dog on the cover is just checking its Wee-Mail.
