Rolinda Bonz
QUOTE (Wandering Hermit @ May 11 2006, 07:48 PM) If you want a shorter pi mnemonic, try this one on for size: How I need a drink, alcoholic in nature, after the heavy lectures involving quantum mechanics. Either I need a frontal labotomy or a bottle-in-front-of-me.
Wandering Hermit
I'm just getting started, folks. I shan't be out-geeked at pi-nerdiness. I shan't. Exhibit A: Here is a link to a java applet I wrote about 9 years ago that demonstrates how pi can be calculated by randomly tossing needles on a flat board that has parallel lines. It's a nice example of a Monte Carlo simulation. Pi is so deeply embedded in the fabric of the universe, you can get to it in ways that are not related to circles but through random actions. Edit: Sorry if you get innundated with popups. Angelfire sucks that way. I need a new place to host that page.

Wandering Hermit
pi does a nice job of demonstrating the fact that mathematics is a discovery, not an invention. Finite beings like humans could not have invented something with an infinite number of digits.

Planet X-1
As long as the size of circles is limitless, pi will be as well. But what if the universe is finite? Just adding numbers here: 3.1415926535 8979323846 2643383279 5028841971 6939937510 5820974944 5923078164 062862 08998628 `28 Alexander Fleming discovers Penicillin BUT if, Nuna`s equation is solved by moving a match stick from the denomintar (VIII) and moving to the resultant (II). The final equation: III = XXII/ VII or pi as represented in whole numbers. The sequence of pi is then as follows 3.1415926535 8979323846 2643383279 5028841971 6939937510 5820974944 5923078164 062862 08998628 03 In `03 Louisiana Purchase made by the United States from France.
