American Idol is the same way...I think that show is great because of Simon...some of those kids just NEED to be told they suck. But the flip side is that on the show the only songs they sing are sort of manufactured R&B and pop. So a kid who grows up watching that will just think that is good music. I actually saw third-season AI winner Fantasia when she opened for Kanye West last december. not an experience I wish to repeat. And you can't really argue with the list that guy gave of good bands.
