QUOTE "your thoughts please...." I don't quite know about that man. If I could be a little Simon Cowell here, and just give my honest opinion: First, the recordings are not very good at all and the mix is terrible. Second, the song writting isn't good either. Third, it's sounds as if it were recorded in someones basement. I thought the guitar playing was the only semi-decent thing about it. You asked for thoughts...sorry if they are harsh
ZAPPA
no worries mate, I appreciate the honesty. The blues one and the hip hop ones are obviously piss takes. But your right about my production and mixing skills, I have a few things to learn on that score. They were recorded in an attic, whilst semi drunk on an old 8 track. If so, that could be a big bonus for you, as they can be really warm if you get the source input sounding good.

Disco
...not sure we should be booking the stadium tour yet, but it sounds like you had fun playing it. I liked Here I Am, as we approached 50 seconds I thought we were going to have a chorus made of big shiny chords, I reckon a lift there would be great. PW_Guitarist
Here is some stuff I was experimenting with for home recording. I play all the instruments, but I am obviously not a drummer or a bassist. Even though I used a click track, I still was not able to get the rhythm section tight, but you get the general idea... I will spare you the vocal songs... the masked drummer
QUOTE (CygnusX-1Bk2 @ Jan 5 2006, 08:38 PM)Hey gang! launchpad67a has generously offered to host a space on his server for our members' musical, um, musings. This thread will be pinned at the top of the Making Modern Music forum for ready access. Perhaps even I will upload some tunes of relevance as well (or at least my semi recent past). Thanks to Mike for his generosity! The Rush Forum Musicians Page A couple of my new band's tunes are on the link on my signature below if anyone wants to comment on how much they hate it cuz it's not like Rush. lol Negative comments welcome! Easy on the guitarist though, he's only 13yo and stands 4'11". He wrote a pretty cool lead in "Super Speed Demon", which is about a muscle car that became posessed... Not my favorite style of music but I appreciate it. Good band, well played parts, recording is a bit weak but that's ok. Nice work MD !!
the masked drummer
Thanks so much lp7a! These are demos in an attempt to get a record deal. i'm doing what i have to do to be a part of a highly marketable band rather than playing in a progressive band like "Tiles" (local prog band) that draws like 10 people at a show . This is the first band i've been in since 1983 that has record companies calling us back. it's not my style of music either, but drum parts are still fun. I get to experiment with different drum triggers on my acoustics and also playing with a sequencer, which is good experience. Rock on!
