Batman
One of the best things about comics is the Artwork soo I thought it would be fun to see what everyone thought was some of the best or worse of just cool. It has to be from Comic Books. Not cartoons or Comic books based Movies OK? I'll start with the two that really started it all..... SUPERMAN http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v627/batman2112/actno1.jpg and THE BATMAN http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v627/batman2112/1batman.jpg Edited November 25, 2005 by Batman
Necromancer
Awesome thread. What a great idea to give props to some of the best artists out there. I know over the 35 years i've been a fan i've had a lot of favorites. This is gonna be fun. It's amazing how far comic art has come from those two covers you posted isn't it? And the business is so lucrative for comic artists now. First they sell their work at an incredible page rate to the publisher, then they get to sell the actual pages on Ebay if they choose for ungodly amounts. And now they're able to work for everyone, which makes it so much easier. My friend Tom Derenick has worked for Marvel, DC and BlackBull at the same time. Even the guys that broke from Marvel and formed Image came back and worked for Marvel again. I wish I had the drawing ability to go with my writing. Not that I've broken it big with the writing yet, but the combination would be a big help. K... gonna go find an awesome pic.
Necromancer
http://i31.photobucket.com/albums/c358/viewmastergeneral/nealadams.jpg There's been a ton of artists on Batman over the years, but I have to go with Neal Adams as the ultimate Batman artist. He redifined the way The Bat was drawn. His sleek, more athletic version of Batman added a needed realism to the comic. I think Neal is the DEFINITIVE Batman illustrator. I believe he is currently working with Continuity Comics. I so wish that DC would bring him back for a run on Batman. That would be so cool. Check out his site. http://www.nealadams.com/

Necromancer
http://i31.photobucket.com/albums/c358/viewmastergeneral/JuskoConan.jpg In my models of Vampirella thread I posted a painting of Vampi by this guy. Joe Jusko. He's one of the most renowned names in comic art today and he's a hell of a guy. I've met and partied with him at a few conventions and he's such a regular down to earth guy. He used to be a NYC cop and he's just the coolest. I don't think I have anyone I prefer to Joe. Alex Ross is awesome, but Joe is way above him I feel. In this pic of Conan, Joe paints over the the pencils of legendary Conan artist Big John Buscema for what i think is the best rendering I've ever seen of the Crazed Cimmerian Barbarian. BY CROM this is good art. Edited to include Joe's website: http://www.joejusko.com/ Check it out. It's loaded with his amazing paintings and pencil work in all mediums. Check out the heroes section and find his renditions of some of your favorite heroes and villians. The images are all copyrighted or i'd post a bunch here. And if you got four grand... get a commission piece. They're worth it. Edited November 25, 2005 by Necromancer

Necromancer
QUOTE (Batman @ Nov 28 2005, 06:49 AM) http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v627/batman2112/spiddyvenom.jpg I love the depth of this one also the colors in the background give the drawing a feel of motion Awesome pic. That's one of my favorite renditions of Spidey. I don't like the overly insect look, the way McFarlane drew him, but he shouldn't be bulky either. This is perfect. The colors are amazing. Prolly digital coloring which is revolutionizing the medium. It's great, but putting a lot of inkers and colorists out of jobs. But that's another topic. Venom, as always, looks fierce. But where's that web going? They're already ABOVE the city.
Necromancer
http://i31.photobucket.com/albums/c358/viewmastergeneral/CaptainAmericaclr2.jpg The pencils: Mike Deodato The colorist: Tom Derenick Marvel released a bunch of images after 911, but this was the most touching to me by far. You can sense Cap's feelings of despair and uselessness in the face of this tradgedy and enormous loss. I think this image defines how amazing a medium the comic book can be. Feelings and emotion expressed through art with no use of words sometimes can be amazing at times. Even through the medium of the funny book, huh? Necromancer
QUOTE (Batman @ Dec 7 2005, 10:06 PM) I can't belive no on post this yet!!! Nice one Drum I actually try to forget about it. It's embarrassing as a comic fan and as a fan. Nah... it's okay. I just hated the whole rock and roll comics thing. They just can't get the dialouge to make any sense when they try to encapsulate actual events in a band's career. Most of them really read quite lame. Some art was okay though. This one wasn't too bad. I have it, but don't know where or i'd look up the artist on it. I think some decent names broke into the field with these books.
