I suppose I could take the radical step of doing some research and looking up which songs were on which early albums (are we doing American or English versions?), but I could also just guess until it comes down to the later, greater albums.

This is tough because I love about every Beatles album I've ever heard, but I've yet to hear most of the early records (I know the singles very very well from Red, Blue, and 1). So I can't vote for many of those early ones. However, I have heard the soundtrack version of Help... which is okay. And a long long time ago I listened to Hard Day's Night enough times to decide it was good, but not on the level of Abbey Road or anything. So for now those are my elimination votes.

Also I totally agree with what Ibanez Jam said recently about doing a Van Halen songs elimination. If you've got too much on your thread making plate, hi_water, I could take a stab at making it. Let me know.

What about Yellow Submarine and Magical Mystery Tour?

Personally I don't care about Yellow Submarine not being there, but Magical Mystery Tour was a full album in the US, not just an EP. It should be here.

And, I'll add, it is the only US release that has become part of the "canonical," discography.

Or we could save time and annoint the White Album right now.

Such a hard task!

I eliminated Beatles For Sale first...I think it is their weakest album, although losing any record with I'll Follow The Sun is a travesty! I then picked the first record, despite the fact that I love it - I just love it slightly less than all the remaining ones.

FIFY (and that's if Past Masters 1 & 2 aren't considered proper albums)
