Pains me to vote against Vengeance, but Stained Class is near to being my favorite metal album by anyone. These two and Firepower would probably make my top three from Priest.

The other day I listened to British Steel, Point of Entry, SFV and DotF. That’s peak Priest IMO.

For me the peak period is everything from Victim Of Changes through Defenders Of The Faith, but there are some valleys spread pretty regularly in there so their absolute best records are mixed evenly between the two decades... oh and then they went and made Firepower which is my number 2.

Can't be. People bought - and still buy - those records. And those albums have songs that people know and are played on the radio.

I always thought Priest hits weren't that good to begin with. They don't represent what the band is at all. Those songs are the reason Priest was the last of the pioneering metal bands for me to get into.

That's only part of the problem. More pernicious is that people who weren't Priest fans before British Steel know those songs.
