Avenged Sevenfold-Waking the Fallen (9/10)

screw the hate. this band is gold.

Mick

A7X's The Stage is best prog album that has been made in years by anyone. Can't wait for what they do next.

Bold take!

Well, when you can write a song that attempts to recreate the Big Bang, write another one about Giordano Bruno, and also get Neil deGrasse Tyson to do a spoken section on the CD... you have kind of gone off the deep end of prog... not even Rush could pull that off.

I wonder what Neil thought of Neil deGrasse Tyson.

Dream Theater-Distance Over Time (7/10)

This is a firm OK DT at best.

People rate this so high and that's super cool. Cause they did some really cool stuff on this record. in places it's super different for DT . but......when things don't land for me.......they land with a hard thud.

Nightwish kinda did on Endless Forms, which is proggy, has a song about the history of the universe, and features Richard Dawkins...came out the year before and in my opinion was the greatest album of the 2010's.

Buuuut I love The Stand!

IMO their best album yet.

What do you make of the KK's Priest album?

It has really grown on me. Great guitar sound and generally Ripper's voice is OK.
