Baseball players who're drummers - Rush connection

I discovered and started listening to the Rush - Complete Rockline Broadcasts 1984-2008, which is posted here.

From listening to the first Rockline episode, baseball player Warren Cromartie is mentioned. Cromartie and the Montreal Expos are thanked in the Signals album's liner notes. Then later on Geddy made a vocal appearance on Cromartie's AOR band Climb (formed with David Rosenthal of Rainbow) on the song 'Who's Missing Who'. It turns out Cromartie is an accomplished drummer as well.

Then later on, baseball player Randy Johnson is also a Rush fan and later becomes friends with the band. He was the official R40 Live 40th Anniversary Tour photographer (noted here) and also plays drums.

What is it about baseball players who play drums as their chosen instrument? What's the connection?

Cromartie gets the biggest in joke on the back of the Signals album, as well...
