PassToBangkok
Mine is 1974-81. l have every album from the first album to Exit Stage Left. l bought A Show of Hands and Signals on CD about 30 years ago but gave them away. Bought the Roll the Bones CD but it got scratched really bad and wouldn't play anymore so l threw it away. Think l had Power Windows on cassette in the 80s but don't know what happened to it. l have Presto on LP but it hasn't been played in over 30 years. Entre_Perpetuo
I'm a pretty typical fan. 2112 through Signals is that golden untouchable period, but the three albums in either direction of that run are all great as well. I quite enjoy Presto, in fact I probably rank it above the debut and HYF, but it was a sign of Rush losing their quality control. The 90s albums are very hit and miss. VT is average, SnA sub par, and CA the odd duck out as absolutely incredible and essential.

Pound of Obscure
2112 - Signals. I really can't fathom another answer. Even if one loves the other eras for what they are, as I do. They aren't better. They just aren't.

yyz2112
75 - 84, FBN - GUP. I just don't understand how you could have the passion for any following period that I have for this period. They lost something...
Weatherman
75 - 84, FBN - GUP. I just don't understand how you could have the passion for any following period that I have for this period. They lost something...They lost some of their inventiveness, sure. It happens to everybody. You can only be the hot new sound for so long. Billy Corgan said the peak lasts seven years, maximum. However, Ged became a much better conventional singer starting with HYF thru Counterparts. So they gained that. And these days I listen to post-1980 Rush more than 70s Rush, if that means anything.
jnoble
I also enjoy the HYF-RTB era. It didn't rock as hard as the 70s prog days and Lee couldn't shriek anymore but I liked most of the songwriting and melodies and their foray into pop-funk

There is more substance to their material in this era than whole genres of other music. I give the later era a go every now and then and can only pick a handful of songs I truly enjoy: Mission, Marathon, Animate.

Rhyta
Waves thru Grace is their best material, imo. I agree mostly, GUP was my favorite for a long time, it got me to really listen to them. I guess I lean towards 80-85
