Just a precis of the events @ Man Utd -

Glazers buy the club in a leveraged buy out. Very little of their own funds are used and the repayments come from the club and the huge income it makes, not the Glazers. Skip forward a few years, and they buy Ronaldo. Share price leaps to its highest price since 2018 and the Glazers sell their personal shares at a huge profit, whilst the club makes no money from this and the repayments continue to come from the club.

?
And what of the Newcastle controversy?
Just what I needed... another club making it even harder to get into the Top 6.

Seriously, the ship has sailed on moral probity in English football. The Saudi government human rights record is not exactly aligned with the FIFA mission statement of equality and opportunity to all, is it? When half of their population is treated as second class. No... I`m not impressed, but it`s not worse than Man City (or PSG). The FA and EPL are responsible for allowing the owner of Newcastle to be, in effect, MBS. Compared with the current government effectively being bankrolled by Russian businessman who have no interest in the wellbeing of the UK population, nobody should be too shocked by anything anymore :sigh:

None of the above should discourage them from buying Kane for £190m though

Husband is a huge Newcastle fan, go figure!
One amusing thing about this is that Steve Bruce has a three-year rolling contract. Everyday he wakes up he has three years pay guaranteed if he is sacked. Knowing that personally he wouldn`t sack him and that he was selling the club, this is basically a gift from Mike Ashley in his contract to Steve Bruce and a little two-fingered gesture at the owners who have the manager they would never want and didn`t appoint but have to pay £7m to sack, even though Newcastle are second bottom and playing really badly
Newcastle is already trying to take Timo Werner from Chelsea. Negotiations have started...
They`ll need someone who can get the ball to him first :eyeroll:

Now that FIFA has cleared Kamil Glik of any racist gestures or remarks during the Poland-England game, I feel it's time to punish the false accuser, Harry Maguire. These liars move from accusation to accusation without any consequences. Polish Federation seems to agree with me. To be continued...

I wasn`t aware of this story - either my customary ignorance has kicked in, or the media forgot to mention it when it happened and forgot again today. Tell me more :eh:

It all started near the end of the first half, when Glik and Walker exchanged words. The camera shows Glik touching Walker's chin. The action was explained away later by Kamil, in saying he wanted to let Kyle know he talks too much. It was at that point Maguire decided to take out the 'race card.' His version of the event was later collaborated by Kane and Southgate. It's curious we never heard a word regarding this from Walker after the game or in the following days. My biggest beef with this is that the aforementioned members of the English team had another hour to think before introducing a complaint, and still persisted in attempting to ruin a man's image. This should not stand.

Tough for Glik to defend himself, as he has to prove a negative. I vaguely remember it, nudged by your post though. I wonder if Maguire walked off thinking, accusing him of racism, "...it was rather witty, wasn`t it?" and thought no more of it? It`s had no follow-up across our various outlets, and it`s fair to say that current media coverage doesn`t miss a racism story. It can be found in the small print near the bottom of hard copies. I suspect it might be slightly higher up if they had found evidence of a racist comment but I still don`t really know what evidence can be irrefutable in a "he said/he said" scenario.

Lovely, cuddly John Terry and Anton Ferdinand comes to mind, although I don`t think anyone believed Terry`s defence that he wasn`t calling Ferdinand "a black c***"; he was just saying "I didn`t call you a black c***"

Fortunately in Glik's case, it was "he said/he said/referee said."

I know it`s far from technically true, but it does feel like Spurs play the buoyant side that have just got a new owner or new manager an awful lot. We don`t need the extra hassle. Covid robbing us of two players too as well as most of them having been all over the globe this week... pfff... as always, I don`t fancy it at all.

Today's opponent also tried to employ Zidane or Mourinho.

They`ll probably be wise to try and get away from the threat of relegation before they start being too frivolous.

Blimey, a fan having a medical emergency stopping the game. Not only shades of Eriksen, but David Ginola is studio-guesting today and talking about CPR and how he was dead for twelve minutes (and also reminded me of Glenn Hoddle, who wouldn`t be alive but for a studio hand knowing what to do when he had a heart attack in 2018). The Spurs players were far more keen to save this fan`s life than the ref and the medical teams, whom needed Reguilon and Eric Dier to shout at them to get moving.

And congrats to Great Britain, the Speedway of Nations champions, although they were fortunate when Janowski crashed out in the Final.  :banghead:
