The Glenlivet 14 YR Cognac Cask vs The Macallan Sherry Cask

So just last year I saw The Glenlivet 14yr Cognac cask and thought why not, it's like $50. I noticed right away that it had a similar mild sweetness and smoothness of The Macallan Sherry cask, even better. Then I realized that I was comparing to a 12 yr Macallan so I ponied up and bought the rather expensive 18 yr Macallan Sherry cask.

 

As I sit here right now, with The Glenlivet 14 in one hand and The Macallan 18 in the other, I swear I prefer The Glenlivet, and not just for the money which is considerably less. You know 10 yrs ago or so The Macallan was much more affordable and was my go to, particularly for RUSH events, but they have since gone with WAY upscale pricing while maintaining the same quality.

 

Sorry Neil, I'm a Glenlivet man now.

Apart from Macallan, I've never tried Glenlivet. I'll let you know if and when I do.
