Pop diva Madonna has accused Gwen Stefani of being a'copy cat', who has stolen her style. "She ripped me off. We work with a lot of the same people. She married a Brit, she's got long hair and she likes fashion," Femalefirst quoted her as telling the Evening Echo. However, despite her accusations, Madonna, who is said to be the Queen of re- invention, considers the budding desinger a talented person having multi-faceted skills. "But I don't mind. I think she is very sweet and talented," said the 47 year old, who is currently promoting her new single Hung Up. Stefani, whose collection received rave reviews from the fashion pack when it debuted at New York Fashion week this year, has become a style icon for her eccentric clothes and designs her own fashion line L.A.M.B. I find it quite silly to take sides on this one, EVERYONE in the music business is copying or at least is inspired by someone ahead of them, no one has done anything remotely new for hundreds of years. I was never a huge fan of her music (though naturally growing up in the 80's am well familiar with her big hits), but I thought she was a major figure as a women in her era, and she made a lot of women feel good about themselves and their sexuality. Admittedly, she was very contraversial and over the top, but I think she opened a lot of doors for a lot of people, and especially after seeing her Truth Or Dare movie when it came out, earned my respect tremendously. Take away all her "persona" though and she's STILL a quality entertainer. She may not have the absolute best voice in the world, but she's still good. I have a few CD's and I challenge anyone who says the woman can't sing. Get Ray of Light. She's matured so much as a singer, and on that album she's simply amazing. And to show you the quality of her voice when she really wanted to, get Something to Remember. It's a collection of her best ballads. Not saying Gwen doesn't have something along the lines of Madonna, i definitely see some similarities, but will she EVER be the icon that Madonna is? I doubt it.
