Earl rates Tommy Lee as one of the best drummers of all time, but he doesn't rate the great Charlie Watts. Just think about it, Tommy Lee who featured in a show about drumming where he got outdone by a bunch of kids at drum school and Earl thinks he's better than Charlie Watts!

Yeah, two different schools of drumming.  That being said, I have to go with Charlie Watts.  Tumbling Dice and Gimme Shelter would be very different without him.  He is precise but always in the groove somehow.

That being said, I enjoy Tommy's drumming, especially on the Dr. Feelgood track.  Very unique rhythm there.

Their approaches to drumming are similar to how they react to getting rid of an annoying fly in the house...

Charlie...casually gets up from his chair and walks across the room over to the back door. Raising one eyebrow, he listens carefully for the fly. It reluctantly approaches him. Charlie opens the back door as it flies away outside without a fuss.

Tommy...angrily gets up from his liquor stained leather sofa and leans over the coffee table to snort some coke leftovers. From there he stumbles to a closet and pulls out a baseball bat. He begins smashing everything within a ten foot radius of the fly. The two make their way over to the living room window which Tommy violently leaves in shards. The fly exits with the room left in disarray. He screams a “f**k you” towards the insect which is already long gone. Tommy exhales then makes his way over to the coffee table to do another line. He sinks back into his liquor stained sofa as the fly re-enters via the broken living room window.

Charlie always wears a suit when out in public though. He always makes sure he looks his best. Like the time he made sure he suited up before leaving his hotel room, so he could go down to the lobby and punch Jagger in the face. He does everything looking like a million dollars.

The overriding factor here is that Tommy Lee is a c***, therefore Charlie gets the nod.

Another way to look at it is a band are the sum of their parts.

The Stones are legendary therefore Charlie gets some of that.

Motley Crue are f***ing dreadful therefore Tommy gets some of that.

This one is actually a little tougher.  I think Tommy Lee is a very good drummer, by far the best musician in the Crue.
