Wolfgang Van Halen’s first single

Sure, it`s creepy, but I`d buy the "Van Halens at Home" DVD.

To be fair - because of the highly personal nature of the song and videos - it does feel slightly wrong to be watching those clips in Wolf's video. I expected to see a wasting-away EVH at the end of the clip (and maybe I did? Was he sick in that last shot?).

But Wolf is nothing but sincere. The song works because he is a dyed in the wool musician - and likely processes his pain through music, just like his pop.

I don`t think Eddie was sick in the last shot, as Wolfie was pretty big in that shot, and he lost a lot of weight over the last couple of years. Also, the video is highly personal, but Wolf`s solo album, if there is one beyond the song, has been in the works for about seven or eight years - was it a case of the song fitting the circumstances of losing Eddie, or the song being inspired by losing him? Not that it matters really. It`s beautiful to watch a happy Ed and Wolf.

Gotta say, Wolf is bigger than ever...

from Wolf's youtube page:

“As my pop continued to struggle with various health issues, I was imagining what my life would be like without him and how terribly I’d miss him. While the song is incredibly personal, I think anyone can relate to the idea of having a profound loss in their life. I never intended ‘Distance’ to be the very first piece of music people would hear from me, but I also thought my father would be here to celebrate its release. This is for him. I love and miss you, Pop.” - WVH

Thanks for that. I`m not a user of any social media - except here, which I guess counts.

I watched the video with the sound off. It's obvious Wolfie idolized his father. It's not easy to lose a parent when you are young.

I'm grateful to him for sharing those personal moments with others who have no real right to see them.

Are you going to replace the sound with something else and watch it again? How about some ELO?

I'll watch it later with the sound. Can't do it now.

That's because "you're MAD!! You're a bloody madwoman!" (Michael Caine in Sleuth voice).

Doesn`t Wolf do everything? I don`t know if that turned out to be the case, but he was going to be writing, singing, bass, guitar, drums, keys, producer when the record was first mooted.
