Motley Crue members Tommy Lee, Vince Neil and Nikki Sixx were saying today how much they hated the Theatre of Pain album, and that it was trash. Vince Meal was shocked that it went double platinum, Lee said he hadn't even heard the album yet, and Nikki SIxx said it was complete rubbish.

I actually think it's one of their better albums, in fact it's better than everything apart from Shout at the Devil for me.

What do you think? Is Theatre of Pain a load of rubbish or not?

It's the only Crue record I actually owned as a kid. I listened to it all the time. Loved it then.

But has it aged well?

No, not at all.

Mick Mars should've gone solo in 86.

I don't think it's great but it's pretty good, better than albums like Girls, Girls, Girls. There's a few good songs on there, to me it's typical Motley Crue. If Nikki Sixx and co hate this album then they hate their own music.

Oh yeah I made this poll multiple choice, the reason for that is when I finished it and looked at the options I realised that about 5 options applied to me and they didn't contradict each other.

Home Sweet Home is a bona fide hit though. Maybe Tommy should’ve written the songs!

They're right. The album isn't very good. Then again, their discography as a whole isn't anything too special. Their first two albums and Dr. Feelgood are the only ones worth revisiting at all.

:goodone: treeduck,, you always crack me up when you call him Vince Meal!   I agree with J2112YYZ.  My favorite album is Dr. Feelgood and then the first 2
                               albums after that.
In a strange way they remind me of how important Neil was in Rush songwriting.  Motley Crue has some killer riffs and musicality but the lyrics never
really go anywhere. Better lyric writing would have helped them a lot, in my opinion.  They did pretty well with the ones they had, though!

Imagine him trying to talk sense to a drunken, drugged-up Nikki Sixx and Tommy Lee? :16ton:

Oh geez, that would have been a scene!  Although Tommy Lee comes off like a goofball like Alex, but like times 100.  Alex seems like he can take things seriously if necessary.

And imagine Neil trying to get Vince Meal away from a pile of tacos and chicken nuggets long enough to record a song!

I love the record!  But get rid of the cover "Smokin' In The Boys Room!"

I love "Girls Girls Girls!"  Couldn't they write one more killer song rather than throw "Jailhouse Rock" on at the end.  WEAK!
