John Petrucci giving props to Rush

I did an interview with John Petrucci of Dream Theater, a band who never hid the fact that they are influenced by Rush. During the chat, I asked him about one rationale they always used when making decisions for the band, which is "what would Rush do?". Check out his response on the following link: https://www.sonicperspectives.com/interviews/interview-with-john-petrucci/

Sauconys are cool, I tried them on a demo night at my running club. Brooks aren't bad either. I just feel more comfortable with Asics.

I recently got a pair of Brooks that were perfect for my foot. It's so nice when you find the perfect shoe! Sad thing is...the Brooks about worn out already, as I've done a lot of trail running. :(

Rod in Toronto, check out this recent interview with Kim Mitchell regarding a session on a James LeBrie solo album and John Petrucci.

The bit begins at the 34:05 to 37:25 mark.

I'd like to know what John Petrucci's opinion on Kim Mitchell is as a guitarist/musician.

Great interview. Loved the answer he gave to the “What would Rush do” question. So true. Same for Maiden.

Nice interview!!! I heard from a friend here that Kim is not exactly the biggest enthusiast of interacting with fans, and even comes across as arrogant sometimes. Can anyone confirm?

From the piece: "They always seemed to do things right. I can’t think of a time they made a wrong move."

I can.

The "Time Stand Still" video.

lol

It was appropriate for the time. Most things they (and many other bands) did in the 80's look dated nowadays.

Thank you!!! And for those who prefer reading interviews, as opposed to listening/watching, Ultimate Guitar has transcribed a good chunk of my interview with John. Check it out below:
