I am currently on a chronological revisit of one of my favourite bands of the last couple of years, and by now, of all time.

With every revisit, more songs jump out at me as being magnificent. Now I thought it could be fun to open discussion about Judas Priest and their songs, as we often love to debate about albums and rankings and polls.

But what are your favourite songs?

Of the early albums, my favourite songs are:

Rock A Rolla
Cheater
Victim Of Changes
Deceiver
Diamonds And Rust
Last Rose Of Summer (omg I bloody worship this song)
Exciter
Better By You, Better Than Me
Beyond The Realms Of Death

And you know what song really, truly stands out to me?

The Stained Class bonus track Fire Burns Below. Bloody love that one!

Of course I love plenty more, this list only covers the first four albums!

And you?

I love it! Such an underrated gem! In fact, my box set of all their studio and live albums up to Live Evil has loads of bonus tracks, and I think I've enjoyed them all!

Sin After Sin, Stained Class and Killing Machine are beyond amazing to me. Huge fan of them all! I know many rate Sad Wings right at the top, but it trails behind them for me (and I think it's in the same league, definitely).

Priest's bonus tracks are often great enough to have made the original album, Fire Burns Below is an excellent example of that! I also love the bonus track at the end of Painkiller.

Some of my favorites, in not much of an order:

Beyond The Realms Of Death
The Hellion/Electric Eye
You Don't Have To Be Old To Be Wise
Victim Of Changes
The Ripper
Exciter
White Heat, Red Hot
Bloodstone
Devil's Child
Grinder
Diamonds And Rust
Dreamer/Deciever
Firepower
Flamethrower

oh so many more....my favorite metal band for sure

You know, even Turbo and Ram It Down have great songs. I mean at this point, I think it's fair to say I think Priest have a greater discography than Maiden. I would take modern Priest over Maiden, and the two worst Priest albums, with Owens, are without any shadow of a doubt superior to the Bailey Maiden albums.

As for great songs, honestly it's an embarrassment of riches! I realise now one of the reasons Priest took so long to grow on me is because their albums, practically all of them up to Painkiller, are so full of amazing tunes, I couldn't immediately focus on any one album.

Doing my chronological marathon, more than any other classic rock or metal band, it's just endlessly brilliant.

Also buddy, Queen have clicked. I had an amazing time with Night At The Opera today

This is all sweet music to my ears! I'm so happy you're clicking with Queen! :)

I must confess I haven't given my ears the treat of hearing a new Priest album in a while, I've only heard these ones:

Rocka Rolla (like once or twice)
Sad Wings Of Destiny
Sin After Sin (years ago at this point)
Stained Class
Killing Machine
British Steel
Screaming For Vengeance
Defenders Of The Faith (only a few times)
Painkiller
Firepower

I must get back to them!

Dissident Aggressor
Exciter
Stained Class
Beyond The Realms Of Death

Lost of good later stuff but for me albums 2,3 and 4 are the motherlode.

Turbo and Ram It Down are not my favourites. In fact, everything outside what we've listed is hit and miss for me.

I will, and can name my favorite Judas Priest songs.  They haven't changed.  Judas Priest, and Iron Maiden are still similar, and I think they have been consistent.  I've liked both bands, and groups a lot.  I haven't had a favorite Judas Priest c.d., and album.  With Rob Halford as the lead singer, and without, and not including any songs Tim "Ripper" Owens was the lead singer on only two releases, in chronological order, and one song each from their sixteen studio releases, here have been mine.

Run of the Mill
Victim of Changes, and or Island of Domination
Let Us Prey/Call For the Priest
Beyond the Realms of Death
Evil Fantasies
Don't Have to Be Old to Be Wise
Desert Plains, and or Solar Angels
Fever
Night Comes Down
Out In the Cold
Blood Red Skies
Battle Hymn/One Shot At Glory
Worth Fighting For
Future of Mankind
Secrets of the Dead
Sea of Red

I'll just pick 10 for now.  Obviously so many more great ones in the catalog.  Favorite overall album is Killing Machine/Hell Bent For Leather.

Rapid Fire - maybe the ultimate metal song by any band ever
Dissident Aggressor
Delivering The Goods
Green Manalishi
Steeler
Savage
Electric Eye
Heading Out To The Highway
Freewheel Burning
Jawbreaker
