A near impossible choice to make...

...in the end, I went with the first Genesis album I heard.

It was the music that made me fall in love with this band.

I love Phil Pop Genesis. Abacab gets my vote, despite the inclusion of "Who Dunnit?", one of the most incessantly annoying songs ever recorded.

Invisible Touch by a lot.  Of course, nothing with Gabriel on vocals even gets consideration.

A close thing for me between Nursery Cryme, Foxtrot, Selling England By The Pound and The Lamb.

My vote goes to Selling England By The Pound

To paraphrase an earlier post ..... nothing without Gabriel on vocals even gets a consideration!

4. Genesis
5. Selling England By The Pound
6. Nursery Cryme
7. Abacab
8. Wind And Wuthering
9. Duke
10. Invisible Touch
11. Trespass
12. We Can't Dance
13. From Genesis To Revelation
14. ...And Then There Were Three

I like "Trick of the Tail" best because it's still got the proginess, but in a more concise package (they took this same approach with a couple albums following "Trick", but the material is much better here).

In a way, it's sort of like the Genesis version of "Permanent Waves".

Also...I thought that Phil's delivery of the songs was refreshing here.  The material with Peter all seems to give a darker vibe to me.  I still love the Peter albums, but in a different way.

I think Phil's also just a more technically proficient singer. Like I don't think Peter could really pull off a lot of the lines on Squonk. His voice is flexible and has a lot of character but Phil's is much more agile.
