This post has been edited, due to inconvenience.

How this will work:

Choose 20, 25 or 30 songs. If you have no particular order, at least tell which song is your #1 favorite and your #2 favorite. Your #1 favorite is worth 5 points. Your 2nd favorite is worth 3.5 points, and the rest you choose are worth 2 points.

Alright, rules changed. How about we choose 20, 25 or 30 songs. If you have no particular order, tell which is your most favorite and your second favorite. Fair enough?

now I feel like a douche giving people homework

Some TRFers are notorious for 5-way, 10-way, or million way ties for first place. Just a heads up

I’ll try to give this a shot later. Coming up with a top 5 shouldn’t be terribly tough but after that it won’t be easy

you can just come up with lots of songs that come into your mind... that'll do as well.

Nah, I’m going to shoot for your revised version with a top 20. It’ll be tough but that’s part of the interest

I've done something like this before.  I've rearranged my personal top twenty list around a little bit except for my top three, and added ten songs to it.  With a personal favorite Rush songs after a top thirty, I was maybe, going to do how I think, and feel order of Rush songs on their c.ds, and albums like what it was first suggested, and said, but I wasn't going to do any ratings of them, though.  In this thread, I'll be the first person to list a personal top thirty.

1.) Xanadu
2.) Jacob's Ladder
3.) the Camera Eye
4.) Countdown
5.) Between the Wheels
6.) Marathon
7.) Mission
8.) Cygnus X-1: Book One - the Voyage
9.) Cygnus X-1: Book Two - Hemispheres
10.) 2112
11.) Natural Science
12.) Vital Signs
13.) By-Tor and the Snow Dog
14.) Working Man
15.) Bastille Day
16.) the Garden
17.) Digital Man
18.) Kid Gloves
19.) Mystic Rhythms
20.) Middletown Dreams
21.) Force Ten
22.) Available Light
23.) Dreamline
24.) Animate
25.) Resist
26.) Subdivisions
27.) Red Sector A
28.) A Passage to Bangkok
29.) Armor and Sword
30.) Nocturne

Here are eight extra songs that have been close, can be, and for on to the top thirty.

31.) Show Don't Tell
32.) In the End
33.) How It Is
34.) Here Again
35.) Everyday Glory
36.) Carve Away the Stone
37.) Out of the Cradle
38.) the Way the Wind Blows

After much deliberation, to be true to how I feel about my favourite tracks, i have two prerequisites ...

1. Xanadu
2. Cygnus X-1 Book 1
3. 2112
4. A Farewell To Kings
5. Cygnus X-1 Book 2
6 Jacobs Ladder

19. The Spirit Of Radio
20. Bastille Day
21. Closer To The Heart
22. New World Man
23. Countdown
24. Natural Science
25. Vital Signs

That's about it. There are some great tracks post Signals, but nothing that moved me as much as the songs i have listed above

30 songs, all of them I of course love. I will try to place the contenders for the top five in the first half of the list, and contenders for the top 20 at the bottom.
I will try to leave off the honorable mentions, but if I simply must go to 35, I will>

1. Natural Science
2. Hemispheres
3. Beneath, Between, and Behind
4. Something For Nothing
5. Xanadu
6. Vital Signs
7. Limelight
8. Freewill
9. Analog Kid
10. Enemy Within
11. Kid Gloves
12. Territories
13. Prime Mover
14. Dreamline
15. Seven Cities of Gold
16. Subdivisions
17. The Anarchist
18. La Villa Strangiato
19. The Camera Eye
20. Digital Man
21. Chain Lightning
22. Between Sun and Moon
23. Fountain of Lamneth
24. The Body Electric
25. Countdown
26. Manhattan Project
27. The Weapon
28. Circumstances
29. By-Tor and the Snow Dog
30. Spirit of Radio

HM: Far Cry
   Tom Sawyer
   Witch Hunt
   Turn the Page
   Cut to the Chase
   Carve Away the Stone
   Driven
   Earthshine

Okay, so there were about 15 honorable mentions I whittled down to 8.

Some of these on another day might not be in the top fifty, but the ones that his the top 30 seem to feel right at least for today.
