Theremin?

I had a quick search for it, and it looks like he did indeed use a theremin in the recording. The irony is that on the 16th August 2016, someone in here asked the same question about it. I did try to put a link to the thread, but it took me straight back to the homepage.

I was reading the other day about the guy who created the Theremin - Leon Theremin - and he was also a Russian spy or similar, put a fancy bug in a seal that sat in the Russian ambassador`s office for many years, and those sneaky Soviets could hear all the US conversations.

Never heard of a theramin before, but the echoplex (which Jimmy Page used) seems to do similar things.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Echoplex

The Echoplex is an effects unit to play an instrument through. The theremin is an instrument in its own right...

If you watch old sci-fi movies from the 50s a theremin is often used on the soundtrack.

Thanks for the education. Now I guess I gotta save up and get me one of those things.

I saw a History Channel doc about spycraft and that seal was featured prominently. It was a great example of thinking outside the box. I believe it's official code name was the "whatizit".
