Certainly people have done this in the Pink Floyd thread, but this is slightly different I suppose.

 

The ones I know so far:

 

Animals

Dark Side Of a The Moon

The Wall

Wish You Were Here

Meddle

A Saucerful Of Secrets (just got this, need to give it a better listen)

The Final Cut

The Endless River (listened you this on a plane once, and even this sleepy nothingness couldn’t put me to sleep)

While I still don`t think you have Obscured By Clouds high enough, this is certainly a step in the right direction (and Animals is most certainly in the top 3).

 

I would probably put the Wall in the bottom half (The Final Cut is also a lot better than some think it is) and I would probably also rank Piper higher than others as well.

Not a huge Floyd fan, but have heard most of a lot of these, and quite frankly the one I enjoyed the most was The Final Cut.

My problem -- if I am being honest -- is that I don't want to like The Final Cut because it was really just a Roger Waters solo album when he was at his most imperious and self-pitying, wallowing in the depression and alienation that had been kept at bay in Animals and the The Wall. I can't/won't listen to that album in the same way I listen to any of the others -- I probably should have put it last, or left it off.

I almost put The Final Cut at the top of my list.

 

It is a fine album, indeed.

 

Not particularly cheerful, but amazing musically and lyrically.

 

I just wish Richard Wright played on it.

The problem with Floyd is that they are pretty good for ten minutes or so then become extremely boring....the art school tosser vibe doesn't help either...

I find it to be a perfect companion piece to “The Wall”.

 

Almost a backstory to Pink’s story.

 

People always say. “They’re that way because of...”.

 

“The Final Cut” offers a look into the psyche of Pink.

 

You’re so right about it being like an audio movie, you can really visualize what you are hearing it is that intense lyrically.
