1. A Farewell to Kings...as soon as I got my driver’s license in ‘88 I drove to the shop. I had already been a fan for nearly 10 years by then and heard every album up to that point a million times (brother's collection). But I wanted it on cassette for my car.

2. Moving Pictures

3. same as #1

4. A Show of Hands

5. Chronicles

6. Presto

7. Never been into bootlegs

1: Bought?  2112

2: Hooked?  All the World's A Stage

3: Studio Bought?  2112, then Grace.  Others (Archives, Waves, Pictures) had been gifted or borrowed.

4: Live Bought?  A Show of Hands

5: Compilation Bought?  None.  Compilations are for soccer moms.

6: Release Day?  None

7: First Rush Bootleg That Blew You Away?  I'm not really blown away by any boots.  I did love the rare outtakes and edits that used to be posted in Music In The Abstract, especially the trainwrecks.

I got CoS up to MP in a month’s period in June of 2008.  Some were physical CDs and some were on iTunes.  Burned a library rental copy of Signals in fall of that year.  Got GUP, PW and HYF in Summer 09.  Bought Presto through TFE in early 2010 and constantly streamed VT and S&A on Spotify in Summer 2010 when Spotify had just started.  I bought their self titled debut in fall 2010.  Streamed CA.

I recently got ATWAS and ESL on vinyl recently.  I have all their albums so it’s pointless for me to own a copy of a compilation when I can just stream it.

1. First Rush album you bought: Vapor Trails, after hearing One Little Victory on the radio when it was new. I was a drummer so that caught my attention.
2. First Rush album that got you hooked: Retrospectives I and II, which I got after getting into VT, to explore the back catalog. Loved every song on both and that led to me buying the rest of the catalog over the next year.
3. First Rush studio album you bought: After VT and getting into the comps, I believe I bought 2112 and Moving Picture on the same day.
4. First Rush live album you bought: Rio, when it came out.
5. First Rush compilation you bought: See above, Retrospectives I and II.
6. First Rush studio album you bought on release day: Feedback
7. First Rush bootleg that blew you away: Tucson, Arizona 1978 (Hemispheres tour)

2: The Rush Album That Got You Hooked?
MP in 1981

3: First Rush Studio Album You Bought?
MP in 1981

4: First Rush Live Album You Bought?
ESL in 1981

5: First Rush Compilation You Bought?
The old 'Archives' double cassette. 1983?

6: First Rush Studio Album You Bought On Release Day?
SIG. Then every album/video after that on release day.

7: First Rush Bootleg That Blew You Away?
First was one of the Electric Lady boots from the first tour. So raw, so good.  Late 80's by the time I got a copy.
Then Pink Pop.  Had to wait until 2009 to hear it.

Not really a compilation. But rather a re-packaging of the first three albums.

First RUSH You Ripped?:  Back in the day, my buddy had Archives on vinyl and I transferred it over to reel to reel.

1: First Rush Album You Bought?

I think it was Presto at the used record store.

2: The Rush Album That Got You Hooked?

Short term? 2112. A 14 year old me would keep coming back to the band after listening to that. They'd be in the top percentage of bands I like.

Long term? Vapor Trails. The staying power... POWER... of the lyrics made this more than just a band to me.

3: First Rush Studio Album You Bought?

Presto :P

4: First Rush Live Album You Bought?

Rush in Rio, I think?

5: First Rush Compilation You Bought?

I bought the Chronicles DVD, otherwise I haven't bought any of the compilations.

6: First Rush Studio Album You Bought On Release Day?

Snakes & Arrows

7: First Rush Bootleg That Blew You Away?

I'm not sure any bootleg I've heard blew me away. They're neat oddities.

It should be noted, however, that my Dad already owned: Rush (Debut), 2112, Moving Pictures, Exit... Stage Left, and Signals. Then my friends and I started acquire Rush music through... less than legal means as teenagers. I've since gone back and actually bought everything.

3 - Archives
4 - ESL
5 - Rush Through Time
6 - PeW
7 - St. Louis 1980 (although technically not a boot, just a cassette recorded off the radio by my super-duper lo-fi CANDLE cassette recorder)
