Which Genesis axe grinder is the best:

Daryl Stuermer vs Steve Hackett, who's the more accomplished player with the better chops? Who would you choose to play for your life against the best on Earth and if you lose your die by the death of a thousand poisoned razor cuts?

Hackett. Daryl's great.  and he was a great choice to augment Genesis's 3 man era.

but Hackett is one of a kind and fit that band like a glove.

2 Distinctly different guitar players.

Does Stuermer have any solo stuff? His work with Phil is excellent.

But Hackett is an original, and world class player. Hackett all the way.

Hackett VS Howe seems like a better match up.

Hackett. I just find him more innovative but I'm more of a fan of Gabriel-Genesis music.

He does have a few albums yeah. Also has some performances on certain Jean-Luc Ponty albums.

The Hackett-era Genesis is the best Genesis; I know the post is about playing, not overall influence, but Hackett gets all the points here.

Yep, and IMO his leaving the band had the biggest effect on them.
