I will throw down the gauntlet and nominate Rivendell.  Soft and slow, beautiful lyrics and imagery, perfect acoustic backing.

That being said, I would pay a million dollars to hear Geddy sing 'Lying in the warm grass, feel the sun upon your ass' in the beginning.  I wonder if they set that rhyme up on purpose as a joke.

My backups (in order of preference) would be Madrigal, Tears, Losing It, Different Strings, Mission, Marathon

I legit thought he was going to say that when i heard the song for the first time in a long time - I was laughing even though he never said it hah

First time I heard Best I Can I was expecting to hear "You can kiss my ass" after "You can tell me that I've got no class, look around..." Lol

Neil was not a subtle kind of guy, but he was, thank goodness, a little more subtle than that.

In the “Beautiful” category I would put:

Ghost of a Chance
The Garden
Emotion Detector
Second Nature
Mission
Entre Nous
Tears
Resist
Available Light

And minor keys are beautiful too. There is beauty in heartbreak. As crazy as that may sound.

I'll go on record and second Nobody's Hero.  Despite the "cringeworthy" first line. and really, if you take that out as a first line and either eliminate it all together or simply push it back to later in the lyrics would it really bother people as much? Would not making it the opening line make it less cringeworthy?  Anyway, I digress.  I think it's a beautiful, heartbreakingly sad song about not realizing the impact a person makes in the world or in a person's world until they are gone.  I love the lyrics, they are poignantly true.  I love the acoustic guitar accompaniment.  It's simple yet well done.  What can I say, it's one of my favorite Rush songs as well.  Go figure.

Here Again...another unsung favorite...I just love the tempo, the way it's sung, the overall sound.

Natural Science...another sublime sounding and crafted masterpiece.  Ultimately this is my favorite Rush song.  The lyrics alone qualify it for mastery, but add in the music and it's unsurpassed.  Gorgeous.

Natural Science; the lyrics are masterful and the music is spellbinding. The subject is addressed with insight and emotion, and Alex, Geddy and Neil all showcase their astonishing skills.  That`s beauty to my ears.

Not a 'proper' song I suppose. I always liked this beautiful piece.

Nobody's mentioned Panacea yet so I will.

An overlooked little gem IMO.
