I'm going to take out a full page ad in my newspaper, and it's going to read:

STOP THROWING MONEY AT THE PROBLEM!!

;) ;)

So you’re saying you don’t want/need any money

It....was.....a.....JOKE.

But seriously you have a point. How much of this stimulus is going towards a vaccine...or medical equipment? Like the Gates quote I posted, unless there's a vaccine or solid cure, I think people and the economy are going to recover much slower than 'the people in charge' think they will. And does $1200/ea make a huge difference these days...or are we just trying to buy votes in November?

Once this shelter in place business ends, look at new vehicles. Midsize SUV with adequate legroom for my lanky ass to comfortably drive. Right now 2020 Hyundai Santa Fe #1 in the running.

My wife is a service manager for a Hyundai, Subaru, VW Audi Dealership. I wouldn't buy any of these brands...the drivetrains are shit. Stick to Toyota/Honda.

Up to 2010, Hyundais were pretty solid. After 2010, the engines turned to shit. Just hope to be saving you some grief.

$1200 is a start.

my objections is bailing out the airlines after they did the stock buyouts. they could of had a lot more cash in reserves.

secondly, they were the ones who spread this shit over the world.

i also think its bullshit the amount spent to fly americans home from all the effffing world.

its socialism for the rich and capitalism for the poor as usual..............

The only point I was making is that of satirizing the very often-used line, "Throwing money at the problem".

If I were to have an opinion on this latest "stimulus", I would say,

Spend that 2 TRILLION on vaccine research, U.S. made generic pharmaceuticals, IV bags, protective masks and viral & bacterial testing kits.

$2400 isn't going to solve anyone's major problems. It's a joke.

So you don’t want or need 2400 bones? Or is this satire too?

I'm not saying that it's not a lot of money. And yeah, like everyone else I'll cash my check.

What I'm saying is that for a life damaged long term by unemployment, it's not a lot of money. $2400 only goes so far.

So you’ll take the “joke” then. Okay, got it.

And for Principled Man, it’s satire what he was doing but he’ll also cash in his chips.

I think I got it now.

So what's your plans for your $1200 stimulus check?

I'm considering donating to the opposite political party. Not really practical, but I'm a sucker for irony.

I’ll use mine for car parts or scratch off tickets. I’ll use my wife’s to buy more SPY, DIA, QQQ, VIOO, and AAPL.

years ago we got $100 or so for xmas bonus. I just took it to the store and got $100 of scratch off tickets, took them outside, scratch them off and took winners back in...rinse and repeat until there was nothing left. I was always 'go big or go home' kind of guy.

Agree. There's wiser ways of directing $2T on this...like a) creating the vaccine b) ensuring adequate supplies in case this happens again. See the problem...fix the problem. Not see the problem...here's some money so you temporarily forget about the problem.

But then they would basically admit they were totally off guard and not ready to deal with this.

Hmm local cremation service in my area is $895.

https://www.grcremation.com/

$1200 should take care of that with a low-end reception afterwords. Maybe even a small tip for 'the grillmaster'.

I wonder if this is how they came up with the $1200 amount?

It's the Airlines' method of solving problems. Do nothing until there's a crash. THEN you do something about it.

Looked at Honda and Toyota in 2013 when I bought my Sonata. Those first two have continued to build midgetmobiles. When they build something I (6' 4" , 275, 34 inch inseam) can comfortably drive, I'll buy it. Subaru are comfy, but I've heard too many horror stories about the CVT, so those are also a no go. If I have a limited market, so be it. There's a good chance this will be my last vehicle I ever purchase, and I'll do so on as many of MY terms as possible. Edited by pjbear05

Is everyone getting a check?

I am not following any news at all since we moved here. Have no time. This is the first I have heard about this.

My cousin just posted that on her FB page.

That idiot who produced Leto and Eisenberg as Joker and Luthor, respectively, says all Americans should be able to live on $17 a day. Screw his Marie Antoinette attitude. Mnuchin should take his Grey Poupon and shove it up his ass.
