OK.  It's after Christmas and the honeymoon's over.  Here's your Episode 9 Stars Wars pinata thread...Bash away!

For me it's the expansion of the Force powers that drags everything down.  Things like Rey and Kylo switching places or materializing light sabers for each other unnecessarily jumps the shark.  Seems like lazy writing.

Agreed.

I also don't like the force ghosts being able to move things in the actual world - Luke lifting the Xwing out of the water for example.

It was much more interesting when the force was simplified.

It was a valid plot device, IMO.  It was a continuation of the storyline from The Last Jedi.  Rey and Ben were a Dyad - two Force wielding people who were joined as one in the Force.  Soul-mates, so to speak.  The bond was evident in The Force Awakens and it continued through this last Episode.

If anything dragged me down, it was Finn.  There was nothing useful about Finn becoming Force-aware, and his constant running after people and yelling “REY!!”, or “POE!!” was a bit annoying.

Finn has been totally sidelined.

Honestly - remove Rey from the storyline completely, and make it about Finn! That's what I thought it was all going after seeing TFA.

I did like the way Finn developed into a confident leader with strong tactical skills.  However, his relationship with Rey was mishandled.  It just struck me as awkward and incongruent with the story.

No explanation of how Palps survived. Nor how he made his way to Ex-lax-ogol.

Happy for the fan service though. Jawas, Tatooine Homestead, and The Ghost. The Ghost survives to the end of the movie. I'm pretty sure that I saw Hera for a split second in the celebration at the end.

Great shot of Red 5 with the Falcon near the end too.

No tie in to Baby Yoda or Mando - but we did get Lando. Finally.

Which is a good thing.  The Mandalorian takes place about five years after Return of The Jedi.  There is no connection.

Loved the expanded force use as in the comics!  Rey using lightning to her surprise showed her true lineage before the actual reveal.  In Episode III the sith being able to cheat death was talked about.  I've only seen it once but was thoroughly entertained.

We don't know the little guy's destiny though. He's almost certainly still alive at the time of Rise of Skywalker. So who knows?

Cheesiest line: "I am the spy."  No shit?  Just shot three stormtroopers.  How about kill the stormtroopers then, "Follow me!"  I think that would've been a better holy shit moment.

He's 50 years old in the series, so that would make him at least 80 during Rey's time.  He's still a youngster!  Not even in middle school yet.... ;)

"I don't care if you win. I just want Kylo Ren to lose."  Was pretty close in cheese coverage.

Pretty spot on review.  If you like Star Wars at all, it delivers, especially compared to the prequels and 7 or 8.

What that has to do with magically making stuff appear, I'm not sure.  Seems unnecessary and way beyond reasonable suspension of belief. It begs questions like, "If you can materialize stuff, why can't you fly across waves?"
