Blue J
https://variety.com/2019/music/news/robert-hunter-dead-dies-grateful-dead-lyricist-1203347694/ Even for those of you who are not fans of the Grateful Dead’s music or cultural representation, I challenge you to simply read the lyrics to songs like Terrapin Station, Stella Blue, Comes a Time, or Mission in the Rain (just to cite a very, very small handful) and not be duly impressed, or moved, even. Hunter wrote the lyrics to just about all of the original GD songs that Jerry Garcia sang (and a few that Bob Weir did, too). From day to day Just letting it rideYou get so far awayFrom how it feels inside And you can’t let go‘Cause you’re afraid to fallBut the day may comeWhen you can’t feel at all Comes a timeWhen the blind man takes your handAnd says, don’t you see? You’ve got to make it, somehowOn the dreams you still believe Don’t give it upYou’ve got an empty cupThat only love can fill RIP Edited September 25, 2019 by Blue J
apetersvt
Very sad news. Much of the mystique of the Dead's catalogue was his credit. Heard of the news last night while traveling home. When I started my car getting back to the airport, He's Gone was playing on the radio. Listened to Box Of Rain when I got home. Was glad to have seen him play live (back in 2002).
Mystic Slipperman
This one hurts... Robert's words have been a mystical comfort for me for half my life, at least. RIP Robert and fare thee well

I never followed GD and have never heard this song but I'm struck at how thematically similar these lyrics are to a song I wrote in 1992. Of course the thread isn't about me. Carry on.
