Yo! Back From My Ghost Reno Trip! Hi Goose! Sorry My Dad And I Missed You! So Kids! TOOL Twice In La Or DLR In Vegas Once?

Finally back from my wonderful concert week tour! Incredible.

Saw GHOST with my dad in Reno. Front row seats on the side where the lead guitar ghoul plays. Tobias yelled "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA!!!" My 82 year young dad who served in the Army stood up to cheer and scream! Fists pumped into the sky!!! The Nameless Ghoul lead guitarist came up to us on his platform and he gave my dad the DEVIL HORNS!!! IT WAS EPIC!!! I have it on video!!! My dad ROCKS! His second time seeing GHOST! First time was when they opened for MAIDEN! My dad loves both bands!

So as many of you RUSH GHOULS know, I have the same name as the GHOST merch guy who I have known since I have been following the band since it's inception thanks to TREEDUCK.

Anyway, I am Earl III. My dad is Earl Jr. I was able to get many pictures of my dad and I with the other Ghost Ghoul Earl! No like, I'm serious. We have the same first and last name. It's spelled the same.

73 has protected me from over the years with not putting my last name on here but I think it's too late thanks to a few of my friends who have said it.

In this day and age I get it. You can't trust anyone. Especially in public.

So I will let it go.

I would like to post the picture on this Forum, but my iMac is full and I can't upload pics. Never been able too.

So regardless, three Earls togethers and yes my dad was also in his GHOST shirt. The one I bought him two years ago!

So now what?

Oh? The question in my thread.

I just booked a room in LA to see both TOOL shows at Staples.

I was really excited about seeing David Lee Roth perform at the House Of Blues in Vegas in January and March.

I want to do both, but I am just not sure about Diamond Dave's band. I saw both DLR Tours in the 90's.

I should probably just head to LA for TOOL and blow off Vegas.

Any advice Rush Fruits I mean friends???

I saw my 9th GHOST show with my dad. It was incredible. I had little tears in my eyes near the end of the concert. Chilling with my awesome dad at a heavy metal pop show!

Best Ghost show so far! JMO!

No spoiler alerts here, but I loved the second leg set!!!

GHOST ON!

TOOL ON!!!

DAVID LEE ROTH? LOVE THE SUN OF A GUN! LOL!!!!!

ROCK AND ROLL FOREVER!!!

Doesn't that retired band called RUSH have a song called "Making Memories?" The album I think is called "Fly By Right?"

My dad is fuckking alright!! Making amazing memories with my dad!!

Sorry we missed you Allen! DAMN IT!

I tried man! I called your ass when that shitty opener was on stage. JUNK BAND ALERT!!!!!

What do you think about the two new Ghost songs? I think Tobias is trying to get too funny with them. Hopefully it's not a sign of where he wants to go on the next album and these are just some one off tunes. Edited by J2112YYZ

I haven't been listening to any of the band, and group Tool's music, and seen them perform in concert in person. When I lived in Brampton, and Bramalea, I've seen David Lee Roth in Toronto at Maple Leaf Gardens two times, and I've listened to his music. The first time I saw him was on Halloween night, 1986, during his "Eat 'Em and Smile Tour", with guitarist Steve Vai, and bassist Billy Sheehan in, and part of the band, and group, and the second time was in April, 1988, during his "Skyscraper Tour". At the time, he was at his peak, and was similar to what he was like in Van Halen, as both tour concerts were really good. Now, with him losing his voice, Van Halen, being on the decline, the lineup changes, and what's been going on within the band, and group including the animosity, I wouldn't pay anymore money to see him in concert in person, and who, and what his band's, and group's members are. Man, did that band suck. Although I have to say the three-man bass solo was hilarious, three guys on one bass, with the lead singer using stick to bang the strings while the other guys did two-handed piano-taps on the strings. :laughing guy: :laughing guy: :laughing guy:

Sorry we didn't meet up, but we were together in spirit!

I drove 3 hours to a Conn. casino in the 90's to see DLR. He was booed and was very out of tune.

I drove home pissed that I drove 6 hours to see his nonsense.

DLR seems like a Vegas act these days so it is a fitting location for him.

DLR turned into a Vegas act the minute he started doing that "Gigolo" and "California Girls" crap back in '84, and he's been one ever since.

Nothing screams Las Vegas show more than his version of Just A Gigolo.

Hey there!

Dude! I didn't know there were going to be a few changes to the set. I didn't care for the two new songs. But I did download them onto Apple Music and they have immensely grown on me! I love the songs, but yes I get it!

Kind of corny synth songs. Great melodies and lyrics though. "Mary On A........ Mary On A.......Cross." I think it's a pun with the word "marijuana."

I actually heard that those two "new" songs are actually old demos that were recored before Ghost's debut album.

Seeing ghost next month. Will be my third show.

If the choice was Tool or DLR and there was no way to do both, then I would go see Tool. I am guessing the shows are on the same night?

Hello! Thanks for your advice. The shows are not on the same night. Just decided last night to pick one.

After sleeping on it and reading everyone's comments it makes much more sense financial and logistically to see TOOL twice in the Heart Of LA!

DONE!

I saw the 1984 Tour when I was 16. It blew my young mind. However I do get it. Sadly David Lee Roth is a Vegas act, but I love him so.

I saw the "Eat Em And Smile" and "Skyscraper" tours. They were AMAZING! But yes that "Crazy From The Heat" album was backed with pure pop cheese! Great videos though!

Love Diamond Dave but TOOL is the way to go. I can't wait to watch Danny drum for two nights in a row. Holy Shit. "Chocolate Chip Trip!" The new album is amazing to me. Glad I woke up!

Could be Album Of The Year!

Cheers!!!!

What do you think about the two new Ghost songs?

Meh. I sensed that Tobias was pissed that the audience was ambivalent about them, as well.

I was mad that they added those and cut the Roky Erickson cover "If You Have Ghosts". Really?

I didn't even know those two songs were out until I saw the new setlist. I'm not surprised nobody else knew them. The songs just dropped out of nowhere unexpectedly. The songs are as catchy as can be as per usual with Ghost. But when I hear the choruses it makes me think I'm listening to a Weird Al song. There's always been humor in what they've done but those two songs just seems way too upfront about trying to be funny.

I like Mary on a Cross more than Kiss the Go-Goat. But I kind of want Tobias to go back to the heavier sounding stuff. Less pop and more metal. Meliora revisited? I guess he wants to keep it fresh which I get. Maybe do something over the top metal.

Earl your dad sounds awesome! Great story! Tool all the way if it is one or the other. DLR seems like a Vegas act these days so it is a fitting location for him.

Thank you my friend! Means a lot!! I hit the human lottery! So incredible that three Earls with the same last names met at the Ghost Concert

I remember telling Earl the Ghost Merch guy that one day he would have to meet my dad. He told me over three years ago that he would NOT be doing the merch at the Iron Maiden Ghost shows but that he would be around.

I really wanted my dad to meet him two years ago but no luck finding Earl Ghost at the Oakland Arena show, but Reno was it!!! Good Ghost Karma! Dad and I are in the Ghost family forever! So funny the Carcass guitar player took the pictures of the three of us for me. He remembered me from the last Warfield show. The one they recorded! Then another Ghost merch guy waved me down and said hi! I feel at home at every Ghost show I go to and like I told Tobias three years ago in a small venue in Reno, "You are my new Rush. They retired. I will travel for your band now." Tobias was sooooooooooooo nice to me! He bowed to me and shook my hand and told me that he was honored to be in the same sentence as RUSH. One day I will meet Tobias again and I am sure he will remember me. Not into the meet and greets kids. Never did the meet and greets with RUSH. Will never do them with GHOST. It's all about the passion and perseverance. Just ask Allen! I was going to party with Allen and the other two Rush Forum Friends. But I had a rare poster in my hands and I decided to wait by the GHOST tour bus until 3:30 in the morning. Sorry for being a broken record, but I remember when they all came out of the after party. I got every Ghoul except the keyboard player back then in 2015.

Then this guy in blue jeans and a black leather jacket slowly walked up to me. I was holding a black sharpie. He asked me for the pen and if he could sign it. I said, "Sure!! Of course!! What instrument do you play???" Then he signed, Papa! Shit I was so embarrassed. Tobias told me not to fret about it, that it happens all the time. He was frigging cool! I told him that I tried my best to get into the Bottom Of The Hill show in San Francisco. It's like seeing GHOST inside a house with a bar in it. Incredible venue. Tobias was shocked that I even tried to get into that gig. Tobias is a gentleman. He deserves to make every penny. Regardless of the direction in which way this band goes, I will follow them as well until the end. Just like RUSH.

I agree Ghost brother. Those two songs sucked ass live. But I confess they did grow on me via Apple Music.
