I'm going to throw in a couple of 'duet love-songs' that were released around the same time in the early 80's.

Eddie Rabbitt & Crystal Gayle - You and I

Lionel Richie & Diana Ross - Endless Love

Richie has 'country music' influences, which is rare for a 'rhythm and blues' artist (unless it's Ray Charles). His songs 'Stuck On You' and 'Deep River Woman' (with the group Alabama) showcase this. Then of course giving his song 'Lady' to Kenny Rogers.

Rabbitt has 'r&b' influences mixed with the country roots. His songs 'Suspicions' and 'Someone Could Lose A Heart Tonight' showcase this.

I grew up listening to these two music acts courtesy of my mother and aunt.

If Eddie Rabbitt was alive today, I can see him writing and performing songs like 'Easy' and 'Stuck On You'. Whereas Lionel Richie could write and perform 'Suspicions' and 'Every Which Way But Loose'.

Both Rabbitt and Richie have had the crossover success.

ok, i'll get serious with this one...

in your eyes - peter gabriel

although i ruined the memory of this song because we requested it for the wedding reception for wife #1.

Important lesson learned...if you really like a song, don't play it at your wedding reception.

Possession - Sarah McLachlan

Her album, “Fumbling Towards Ecstacy”, is brilliant. :ebert:

Loved that album...saw her on that tour, too. Summer ‘94.

I saw one of her shows years ago on cable, and I was impressed. I bought Fumbling and Surfacing, which are great.

That's not really a love song though.

it was about a stalker fan that used to send her letters and was creepy.

In relation, Sting has said in interviews that "Every Break You Take" gets played at weddings, which is odd since it's a stalker song. I'll add "I'm Gonna Getcha Good!" by Shania Twain to the list as well.
