What I heard so far sounded really good. I'm not a Tool expert by any means but I think they are one of those bands who's reputation is well deserved.

If you were an expert you'd recognize all the tidbits from other songs.

They have a fine catalog of songs, this just isn't one of them.

Fwiw, if you liked this you would like most of the material from Lateralus and 10,00 Days [and some of the songs on Aenema].  I suggest a deep dive, especially now that their entire catalog is on Spotify.  Lateralus is probably the best place to start. ;)

How can you make that assessment since the new album hasn't been released yet. Do you work at a radio station or something?

How would we comment on an album that hasn't even leaked?

Have you checked out any of my suggestions?  If you liked this one song then you'd like my suggestions.

You're right. I misspoke. Well, I thought we were talking about more than one new song.

I've seen TOOL too many times in my life.
I actually saw TOOL on the side stage at the first Lollapalooza.
They were fuckinggg great but really?
I've seen TOOL open for King Crimson in Berkeley.
It was a hot fuckking mess.  No beer, no water and no AC.
I've seen TOOL in Oakland on the Arena stage.
So fuckking boring.
Danny Carey's drum kit looked like a Neil Peart vintage Tama with gong on that last tour I saw.
I was blown away yet bored.
I took my ex wife.
No wonder I am divorced and single.
Too many prog shit shows.

It's life.

Enjoy the record.
Enjoy the shows.
I will NEVER pay a dime to see TOOL again.
Fukking Maynard sings with his back to the stage.
A fuckking total poser piece of junk.
Just trying to be like Jim Morrison.
Maynard is a TOOL.

Danny Carey should leave this shite redundant boring band and play drums with Geddy and Alex.

Seeing TOOL on the side stage in like fuckking 1991 was awesome.

Ever since that moment in time this band is totally overrated and boring.

I would rather watch paint dry on a white picket fence during a snow storm than watch TOOL live.

Same riff.  Same drum pattern.  Same stupid videos on the the big stupid screen scam.

Pay the money honey.
It's not so funny in a rich man's world.

Signed

I would rather listen to the Circle Jerks than  A Perfect Circle.

I'm so.....

HAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!  CLASSIC!!!!

Quick story:

Back when I was happily married and our daughters were little girls, we would always head down to Newport Beach in January for Disneyland and the beach.
Well the one year we were down there I found out that Universal Studios was doing a "My Name Is Earl" promotion for the park during season one.
If your name was Earl, all you had to do was show them your driver's license and you get into the park for free!
So we decided to go to Universal Studios for the day!  I got it free!  I got a tee shirt and a "My Name Is Earl" cap.  When they gave me my swag at the end of the day,  Square Bob Sponge Pants ran over to me and kneeled and bowed to me.  It was classic.

Great show!

My Karma Clearing in real life has been already activated.

Oh and don't forget about that f***ing Dixie Chicks song...  "Goodbye Earl!"   Had to hear that comparison too!

Pink Floyd is the band that Tool could have been if they were more melodically interesting.

Fixed.

Their last balanced album was Aenima. Lateralus is when this stuff started. I was hoping for a more streamlined album this time, but no.

I couldn't even make it through the title track. What they tried to build up to did nothing for me.

I think they have 8-11 songs in their entire catalog I like.

I'l grant you that PF had the melodies. And the guitar.

But they have the world's most boring bass and drums. If they tried to play Tool, their vaginas would crack.

The single is growing on me. Still super pumped to hear the entire album. MJKs voice and Adam's guitar have such a unique vibe together.
